Do Players Get Credit for Undaunted Pledges If They Don't Participate?

Lately I have been in dungeon groups where one person stays at the entrance and doesn't participate at all in the dungeon. Each time it has been a healer. Do they get credit for clearing the dungeon if they are simply in the group? Why would they fill a slot in a group and not help?

Nope. I joined a pug starting with the second boss, no reward.

    I proceed like this:
    - give a warning that inactive players get kicked in x min
    - wait x min then initiate kick survey.

Only fails when you have two of these dead bag people. Then I quit or dissolve group.

BTW I read this now more often lately. What is "pug"?

I think they get the random daily award. I wouldn't be surprised if they got the pledge completion, too. No loot, though - you need to be proximate to the action for that - unless pulled forward by the 'joining combat' mechanism.

Probably someone just afk but maybe vote-to-kick?

Maybe, yet another reason to play with pre-formed groups....freeloaders only by consent ;)

That would be irritating if they got any credit for doing nothing.

I also thought maybe they are AFK and maybe using some kind of auto-accept when the queue pops for the dungeon, if such a thing exists.

    it depends on the pledge

some of the non-dlc pledges require killing 3 of the bosses in the dungeon instead of just completing the dungeon, if you missed say the first or second boss your SOL and need to do another run

for most of the newer pledges they just require dungeon completion, which should only really be killing the last boss if you happen to join in the middle

in the case of your question, if someone were to afk through a whole dungeon, it is possible they could still get credit because they would be yanked to each boss due to "joining encounter in progress" in the dungeons that it is available

That's the strange part though, because the map showed them at the entrance, and they never got pulled to any of the bosses. I guess it's possible they actually walked out of the dungeon. But then why stay in the group (one even had the crown)? So odd.

If you leave the dungeon you get nothing even if you remain grouped.

I believe most/all pledges require specific boss kills to complete, and they don't get credit if they're at the start of the dungeon. Sometimes real life happens and they were called away from the computer to do family things, or had to take a work call etc. Either way they don't get credit.

Generally what I've done or seen in the past is that the group waits a couple of minutes at the start and then will generally vote kick someone that isn't doing anything. People that join after you've done one or two of the pledge bosses won't complete the pledge and would basically have to queue again for whatever boss(es) they miss.

Better to get someone in at the beginning than to get someone in that won't actually get credit for finishing the pledge, just doing a disservice to them at that point.

some of the older non-dlc dungeons do not consistently have "joining encounter in progress" enabled, if thats not enabled they wouldnt be pulled to the boss, i dont know if they would or would not get credit at that point just being in the instance

You can have an auto accept with a few mods. I use it and will occasionally come back and the group has already started but never before the 1st boss kill.

So perhaps give a warning and if no response before you get to the first boss initiate a vote kick. While all normals and some DLC normals don't need full groups or roles might as well give the spot to someone who is in the que.

I haven't seen it in a while, but it also used to be a strategy to have two accounts with one a low-level character and queue both of them to get an easy dungeon. You leave the lowbie afk at the entrance and run the dungeon. If they get kicked, no big deal. If they don't, two rnd completions. There for a while, I had a bunch of level 10-20 afk at the dungeon entrance in my rnd dailies.

I find myself wondering if the inactive fourth player might actually be a second account for one of the other players?

I've seen people mention in the forums that they sometimes log in on a second account with a low-level character, then group with that low-level character and their normal character on their main account, then queue for a random dungeon.

They don't actually play on the low-level character while they're playing on their normal character, they just stay grouped with it so they'll be sure to get placed in a base-game dungeon by the dungeon finder.

    Edit:

Sorry, I didn't mean to repeat what you said. I didn't see your post when I started to reply.
