The kill 20 Players should be repeatable: Support Needed

I have to agree with the grumbling of making the 20 kills a daily. When playing the beta, when I got the 20 kills, and was still alive, I was too distracted by fighting to just go kill myself and cash in to do it again. When I died, I would cash in and go back till I died again. Leader boards don't matter that much to me. Personally if a change IS required I would lean towards increasing the number of kills required, but restore it as repeatable. (my two cents)

Honestly - either way, I'll still PvP

Oh and not to mention that but last night in Wabbajack I saw multiple level 46 players and a few people 35+. Most of which were doing the pvp quest over and over to get levels fast.

So are they planning on reverting people's levels too now? Basically the pvp quest turned into a first come first serve buffet of XP for people who are already fairly close to maxxing at 50 and doing vet ranks, while others are now screwed over by this change?

It really is messed up... I really have no words for this change. Especially after seeing those in the high 40's running around Cyrodiil....

Reminds me of that whole valor level thing from the early days of SWTOR.

I understand that their might be issues but I would suggest either : (1) lowering the amount of xp awarded and gold/alliance points gained but allowing it to be repeatable. (2) changing the quest to only count players killed by the individual rather than the group as a whole.

Please offer any feedback and/or concerns.

I agree with either of these options.
I just really want to still have a way to tally my kills. I like to run either solo or duo in a large group, and this quest was my only real way of knowing if my attacks were actually contributing to the kills.

Repeatable quests with such significant impacts on game-play are game-breaking. In order to progress most efficiently it was *required* that you continuously be completing that quest. The longer you wait to complete the quest, the farther and farther behind the leaders you fall. The farther behind you are the less incentive there is to start in the first place.

In addition, the majority of one's Alliance point acquisition should, and will now, come primarily from killing players for the sake of PvP not killing players for the sake of completing a quest.

This change to a once per day quest will help equalize Alliance point acquisition. I think it's an excellent change.

As I stated in another thread - the result of this is players won't be able to afford siege equipment unless they pay with gold. A Forward Camp costs over 7,000 Alliance Points and this quest is a daily now with only a 1,000 AP reward.

Very bad move. Why not limit it to hourly? even with the hourly limit there is still no way to keep up with PVE but at least its worth while doing. I believe it's also what gathered a lot of people together in raid groups.

Unfortunately this just made PVP less exciting. Why would I take a break from leveling PVE to play PVP now? Why not just wait until I'm 50?

I hope they at least increase XP for kills.

I dont like it. I thought i can lvl one char up in pvp only :'(. If they would increase the XP gain for other things its ok but now i see no way to lvl up in pvp without playing my pvp toon for years x)

Shouldn't matter who is playing your style. Other people pay for their game, they should be able to level how they choose to. It's a crazy idea to think people should play their game they want to & not the way you want them to.

People are limited by the confines of the game, just because they want to level by exploiting a shoddy quest, doesn't mean they will have the means to.

Correct. Except the confines of the games were not THESE when the game was sold to us for a very steep price.
Some of us bought the game solely for the pvp aspect. Currently it is no longer possible to play the game solely in pvp, because it is nigh impossible to level.

A quest that tells you to stop PvPing leave the battle or siege to turn it in to get your rewards is bad game design.

That being said they should offer a viable way to level up in PvP.
Maybe reduce the rewards of the quest and have it open ended like every 20kills you can get a set of rewards but the counter keeps counting after 20 so you can have something like 60/20 (3 turn-ins). Actually another PvP mmo did this but i cant recall which one now.

You're basically saying that some people bought a £70 game plus subscription just so they could farm a certain PvP quest multiple times a day and now they can only do it once a day.

No, i'm saying people bought the game for the PvP aspect, not for this silly quest. The problem is that instead of fixing this obviously broken quest, they decided to break all hope of playing the game by doing just PvP, since you can;t level anymore.

Yes, the quest was broken and had to be fixed. But not by removing the only way to XP in PvP.

It was a poor game decision from the get-go... And it's silly all the complaints people make about it because they can no longer level their character. There's PVE in Cyrodiil for you to do as well, PVP should be used to level your Alliance Rank.

If Zenimax gets rid or hurts xp leveling in PvP a lot of folks will leave the game. It was a promised feature and many DAoC/WAR/Other major pvp gamers were play ESO and in Cyrodiil b/c they had the option to level there. Take it out and we might as all play Age of Conan. If you want vibrant AvA, don't encourage this kind of sentiment. Let folks level via PvE or PvP if they want to.
  • chris.carr08b16_ESO
As already mentioned, base caps - kills - repairing - using siege equipment should yield better XP, as things stand you could play all day at level 10 and not gain half a level... or you could quest all day and gain 10 levels.

Wonder why PvP is under populated.

Just as an idea the "kill enemy players quest" could maybe scale when completed? For example after 20 or 50 kills next quest is 100, next 1000 and so forth... and it could reset at some fixed schedule, daily or weekly I don't know, just a thought.

Actually i can. It seems that leveling in PvP was so badly implemented that it depended on a single broken quest. Take that broken quest away and whole badness of the implementation surfaces.

Don't get me wrong. I don't want this quest back. It was really stupid. What i do want is a viable PvP leveling mechanic. Which tbh is not even that hard to implement - just keep AP gain in check and increase XP gain from kills. It's not rocket science.

My feeling is not so much geared toward the quest itself, but more the fact that after changing the quest they kept everyone's standing for the "Race for Emperor". So the people who ran that quest non-stop will ALWAYS be at the top now... which is pretty damn stupid.

What they should have done was changed the quest AND reset all standings to ZERO. Whoever thought just resetting / changing the quest and not the leaderboards / emperor points should be fired for their sheer stupidity alone.

    Change the quest - fine.

Don't give everyone an even playing field after the change - NOT FINE!

Now anyone who starts playing on launch day is effectively out of the race for Emp, let alone those who started on 3 Day Early Access. Whats the point of even PvP'ing now when one of the key features was becoming Emperor? Especially now that you gave everyone who had 5 Day early access and did a quest (THAT YOU (ZOS)) changed, a chance to never be ousted from that #1 set for the rest of the entire life of this game.

GG. G Freaking G! This whole thing is just asinine...

calm down lol - the campaign resets in 85 days - not the entire life of this game - less hysteria and more sense can go a long way to devs reading and accepting a point rather than rolling thier eyes at yet another drama queen post

    proposed fix:
    1) limit the credit for killing any one given individual toon to 1 credit every 24 hours (prevents exploits by dual boxing or buddy killing)
    2) allow the quest to be repeatable as originally intended
    3) allow the player to choose between 20, 50, 100,250,500,1000 player kills and scale reward accordingly

Dude - 85 days is a long damn time in MMO's. Once you start to realize that, then you'll understand...

Would have just be easier to implement diminishing returns on quest turn ins than making it once per day imo.

Well , they should make both PvP and PvE speed equivalents when it comes to lvling.

Think so? Until your play style gets nerfed because someone else doesn't like it. That's what will happen when developers make knee jerk reactions to every complaint.

Servers have been open for less than a week, there are players near the cap(excluding vet levels) I think the complaint was justified

They could just make the quest AP not count toward the leaderboard+reset the leaderboard.
This quest was pretty essential for getting siege equipment, few people used it before the change, now nobody except the hardcores will be able to afford it in any kind of substantial manner.

Anyone who really enjoys real pvp would never support the quest as it was, being repeatable. All you had to do was join a raid group, sit somewhere near by the two zergs and finish the quest in less than a minute, run back turn it in and run back to the zerg. It fostered a zerg fight at one gate each time, never rewarded people for scouting, punished those who did not join a pug raid, never rewarded anyone for actually pushing for an objective and playing the map the way it should be and was frankly boring to anyone who actually wants to pvp. I see a very vocal group of people who seem to be angry that they couldn't power level their way to 50 in a couple days from this quest since Zenimax changed it. I lost incentive to try for Emperor by watching how easily someone could obtain it by gathering people to a spot to fight and sit there all day. That is what the top 3 people in my campaign were doing. Typing all caps in the raid to make sure people just stayed at a spot and berated people for moving anywhere else or typing caps in zone to join one of 3 raid groups lead by his buddies. This is not pvp and is not what I think of as fun or fair to people who actually want to have a solid pvp experience. This was barely better than objective humping in WAR. Making that quest daily was the best thing they could have done imo.

The problem is, and I've said it before, it's the fact that the didn't reset everyone to zero after the change. That is at least what my beef is. Anyone who is at top - stays at top for the next 80 some odd days.

They might have fixed one problem, but by not resetting everything to zero - they created another.

There are just as many players that don't want fair PvP as there are those who don't want fair PvE

Many people want to have a "solid PvP experience" by simply winning shinies, getting xp, winning any means necessary.

There are very few that want the in depth tactical large scale PvP battle to be completely even with the only deciding factor being tactics and co-ordination.

Have you even played PVP in this game or just came here for flaming? Even with that "broken" quest PVP lvling was miles behind PVE.
My friend and I got to lvl10 at the same time. He was PVEing and I went straight to PVP, quickly found that bounty quest and obviously I used it for having any chance at proper lvling speed. My friend was lvl16 by the time I got to lvl12. Does that sound fair to you?

Seriously read the actual complaints before you complain about complainers.
There are 3 major complain about this change:
    1. PVP lvling is a joke now, even with the broken quest it was noticabely slower than PVE
    2. Emperor race is now set in stone, because new players have no chance to catch up
    3. From now on you can't get enough AP to cover the siege weapon or forward camp expenses.

Fix? Reset leaderboard, buff XP gain in PVP significantly, lower siege weapon, forward camp and keep/weapon fixing prices.
