Buying a Furnishing Pack

I have always wondered: Do you get all the items put "properly" in the home if you buy a pack after you have bought the home or do you just get a pile of them in your inventory?

I expect it is the latter, which would be nasty (for me at least) to have to put all in the "right" places.

I've never bought a furnishing pack but I'm pretty sure they don't place them for us. There really aren't any right places to put furnishings as we all decorate our houses differently.

You just get all the items to do with as you wish. ZOS can hardly anticipate every possible now and future home and which room you'd want the furnishings in. I mean if you go to a store an buy a lounge suite they don't rearrange your home for you. If you're lucky they'll dump it at your door and leave you to it.

I would somewhat dispute this since I have bought a couple of furnished homes and those had things placed in reasonable places already.

Though thanks to both of you for clarification. I can't see ever buying one of these, especially since I would not want to figure out where to put everything.

The furnished homes are already decorated because that is how they are set up for purchase. It's the same furniture and the same layout for everyone when they buy it.

But furnishing packs aren't tied to any particular house and can be used anywhere. There is no way to purchase a furnishing pack and indicate which house, or houses, the items will be used in and where to place them.

No, they don't place them for you.

And they used to dump the furnishings contained in a Furnishing Pack into your inventory, each individually.
(so if there were 14 items in that pack, you got 14 individual items placed in your inventory.)

But they changed that relatively recently, and now they give you all of the items in a Furnishing Pack as a bundled pack.
(so those 14 items would now be placed in your inventory inside a "container" [labeled as "Such 'n' Such" Furnishing Pack] which takes up only one inventory slot, which you then "Use"/open when you are ready to start placing the items, or move them out of that character's inventory. The container itself is bound to whichever character you buy it with, so you have to open/use the container, which unbundles the items, before you can place them anywhere, including your bank or a storage chest.)

I would be upset if those furnishing packs just randomly got placed all over my home. I own multiple homes and my main is always around max so logistically I wouldn't even be able to buy the pack if it required space in my home.

ESO housing lets you place furnishings all over the place including the ceilings and clipping through the environment. There is no way to properly place a furnishing pack automatically in a home in a way that makes sense to the purchaser.

      Favorite Foods and Potions

      • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
      • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
      • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
      • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Agreed. I've only bought a couple of furnishing packs, but I didn't even want all the furnishings in the same house, and I'd already started decorating them, so it would be annoying if the new furnishings were dumped into one of my houses and I had to find and remove them all to put them where I actually wanted them.

And yeah, even when I'm not doing anything that crazy there's no way for ZOS to know where I'd want them. In my main house I've put trees and bushes on top of a paved area, as part of hiding the paving and making it look like more of the garden. But even basic things like wanting the plate of cookies from the New Life pack on top of a table which wasn't in the pack and also didn't come with the house - there's no way for them to program for that and definitely not to know where on the table I wanted them.
