Every motif in game would have to have the new weapon type made in that style.
But it gets worse....
Becasue the old motifs have lower resolution than the new motifs, if they were able to create 120+ new weapons in their respective styles, the older motifs would have their lower resolution with the new weapon made in the higher resolution creating a sort of disconnect.
And when you consider there is no way to really monetize the new weapon skins....well there is your answer. Its highly doubtful we see a new weapon skill line (even though magicka desperately deserves one).
That is unless they decide not to make new weapon skins for old motifs and we all know how well that will go over with the community.

They could very easily launch a new weapon and then in following updates add them to previous motif styles. By no means would they need to add everything all at once - that would be a monumental task for the artists.
Ohhh, I do love such optimism. But maybe it's just stating facts - both, for me.Cooperharley wrote: »Yea I personally think this is a flawed argument - primarily because nobody in the community would prefer having all the older styles over not having a new weapon in the game at all. Also, they could start with something like unarmed prior to spears/halberds, crossbows, wands, etc.
I think we definitely will see new weapons in the future - just a matter of when

Spears, Halberds, Poles, Glaives, Naginatas, as well as some knuckles for H2H - all of those could use assets that are already in the game, not to mention that we have some animations (eg. Khenarthi's Roost monks or those of Pyroture Encratis).
My wild guess is that if - when? - we were to get those weapons (and their skills), it would be when ZOS sent us to Akavir.
Heck, let ZOS make a contest for the best skill line for those. They'd flooded for sure, BUT it would just leave their team of magicians to do their magic with skills.
