Mora offers the most feel bad gameplay that I've experienced in any card game.

I've honestly never felt so degraded as I have when being forced to play with and against Mora cards with and against Mora strategies.

Perhaps you should take a break until it's nerfed. I agree that it needs to be nerfed. But, a game isn't worth that type of stress too.

I think Mora is fun to play with and against-- but then, I play against NPCs.

You want to buy a contract agent that gives me 3 coin whenever you use it? Okay. You want to buy a card that makes me draw 2 additional cards whenever you use it, before my turn even begins? Okay. You want to call on a patron to get a really good card and give me a copy of it? Okay. No one could say no to that!

In december I reached my win rate goals and moved into the new year in the rank 1 position (partly thanks to another player having a few bad games in a row which was fortunate for me)

I've done everything that I want to do in TOT except for break the record of most power in a single turn. I'll probably do that at some point since it's just a fun thing and PinkApple wants to see it done. The setup is actually really neat. I'm already playing much much less. So much less that it's the bare minimum to get a singly daily done and end the month with an extra 100k gold.

Mora gameplay is fundamentally not TOT gameplay. It is it's own thing and if I were any more frank about it, then I would just be getting moderated, so no point in that.

They may change some of the problematic cards and therefore strategies that the patron gives rise to, but I doubt that they can really change the non-TOT feel that it has. The gambling aspect of that deck is worse than what even the Sorcerer King provides most of the time and it's far more demoralizing than what even the worst RNG game, Hearthstone, ever felt like. What can they do really? Make the contracts cost 1 more each? It's not going to change things. I'd rather have a deck of Bewilderments than helplessly watch people pick up contract after contract. Maybe if they fixed the RNG seeding of the game, then that would help a little bit, but that is assuming that it is broken to begin with. This type of gameplay is obviously intended and more than just a glitch even if the RNG of the game isn't quite right.

Credit given where credit is due though, the designers definitely hit their goal gameplay with the Mora deck. if you really sit and think about it, they managed to distill all of the awful parts of modern game design into one nice little neat package; low skill barier, wacky exciting effects, resource extension that encourages hyperactive play, and a power generating back and forth that would make Who's Line is it Anyway? blush. You know, it's that old gameshow where the points don't matter. Though I think this is extremly toxic, it certainly is very skillful at the design level to be able to bake a cake with all of those ingredients.

But thanks @spartaxoxo for the conversation - I don't really see myself posting here in the future much besides maybe the aforementioned prestige record. I've already ended the balance discussions and any further guidance would have to be for pay. Though balance didn't end up working out in this game, I think that I made a good intern regarding a pretty large number of other issues that I've brought up and have been altered. Can't be bothered to list them out.

See that? I know that you are watching. Why don't you setup a TOT Quakecon tournament? See you there.

Mora replaces strategy with RNG. I find myself using the Mora patron more often than expected because the strategy turns into "I know my opponent is going to get that card on their turn so I might as well get it myself." But, then the contract actions that are ridiculously high in power force you to factor in "what if X card is under this card I want" in moves where you have less than 10 coins and the card you want is over 5 coins.

Its not pleasant. Its like playing blackjack with a deck that has 12 aces in it instead of 4,

I haven't got the deck, but have played it. I think what's interesting with Mora is that it introduces an element of choosing *not* to play cards in your draw at certain times that wasn't in the game before.

That is true, and to the point that there are cards you sometimes want the other player to get, especially if you are playing against the NPC
