Why does ZOS hate tanks?

It seems like every time there is something out there to help tanks get taunt like the Tormentor set, ZOS has to nerf it to being pointless. They made Arcs easy to play but I guess a lot of people complained so they have decided that Arcs need to be harder. They did the same thing to Oak HA one bar builds. I am not sure if it is a specific part of the community that is complaining or if they are looking at their records and are going too many people are playing this build, time to nerf it.

Why does everything in this game have to be so difficult at times? I am not asking for an easy button where you press one button and nuke everything on the map at one time but it seems like they are going out of their way to make it as hard as possible for the players, especially tanks. I do not mind challenges but in this game tanking is in my opinion more difficult than it needs to be. If you are not at the right angle, then you cannot taunt those at range.

I read where one of their core philosophies is that a taunt should be on an individual basis. Why? What is wrong with an AOE taunt?

Honestly, every time they make these huge changes it makes me wonder why do I continue to play. It is like trying to hit a moving target but as soon as you have the target and feel good, there is goes again not being in focus.

Lets face it, 99% of the sets and skills in this game are worthless so lets make them all worthless versus looking at how to make the others more useful. How many builds are nearly identical with the exception of 1 or 2 skills? There is a reason for that.

    One way that developers can sell newer content is by making it more effective than older content.

    If you look at the Arcanist PTS updates before it hit live you'll notice it got some significant buffs late on during the PTS to make the class more appealing.

    AOE taunts are completely unneeded in ESO. Please don't make the game even more brain dead than it already is.

    Having only single-target taunts makes tanking more strategic and deliberate. Tanks need to coordinate and prioritize certain enemies over others, while the group needs to give them the space and time to do so. Personally, I prefer this approach, where fulfilling one’s core role takes more than just a single button.

    Also, ZOS isn’t making tanking more difficult - on the contrary: The change to Tormentor is easily dwarfed by the relaxation of taunt immunity conditions, auto-taunting chains/pulls, enemy markers, etc.

    Its the other way around, a lack of AOE taunts is what makes the game brain dead.

    1/ Tanks = Debuff bots (Pixel stack and hard taunt turns Boss into target dummy)
    2/ Healers = Buff bots (Pixel stack and heal becomes a spam button)
    3/ Dps = Kings and Queens of 2 finger typing
    Eso dungeons/trials are just figure out what mechanics can be ignored so Pixel stacking the target dummy can take place.

    3 reasons I PvP instead of bothering with the PvE in this game.
    (and with the current state of PvP......)

    I never noticed that I'd need any AoE taunt with at least half decent groups, trash dies so fast, they are lucky to get one cast/attack out if any, especially since most groups are 4 dps 1 tank and just push trough with sustain, tank brings altar, do the mechanics and they're fine.

    Before I start linking PVP tank videos showing the absolute opposite of the post - just wanting to clarify that you're speaking just about PVE.

    PVP wise, they're about as OP as I'd want them.

    Well said brother, there's always better stuff to do in life than ESO PVE unless you're working on a new build.

    You know I've said it many times, if you don't want the game to be braindead boring then trash adds need more HP and a lot higher damage output, same with most bosses. There is a problem with the game when content can be run with me as a tank and 3 DPS....... No healer needed at all. Hell I used to even backbar a resto staff and supply group healing when needed lol........

    But if they made all mobs harder to the point that tanks needed a healer then yes tanks could use an AOE taunt. Along with that add more aoe moves to mobs so DPS don't stand in 1 place thinking they are facing a dummy DPS parsing. You claim the game is braindead if you are taunt stuff, but it's actually the opposite way around tbh.

    Lastly it is really bad when healers and tanks wear gear that buff the DPS of the group. As a TANK you should have to focus on staying alive through defensive capabilities. As a healer you should be looking for stuff to buff your healing output not trying to get your DPS people to go higher. Tbh what would you say if roles were reversed and a DPS needed to worry about equipping defensive abilities for pve content lol....... They should be doing damage not trying to survive.

    ESO is/was marketed as having dynamic combat and aiming with a crosshair is part of that identity

    Agreed. Suck folks in and then in a few months nerf it. Continue the gear grind forever.
