They really want to give you that authentic Elder Scrolls "Modding Experience"

Only using 8 addons but have to download almost 3x the amount of supporting addons to make them work and 90% of those supporting addons are all out of date. Just like Elder Scrolls modding . Anyways should I be concerned that almost all the Library addons are out of date? I got them all from minion so as far as I'm aware there the latest version.

Nah it's fine things are out of date, most addons are. They still work fine. If you start getting loads of errors or something then be concerned.

Yes, it's only a version number discrepancy in a text file that's in the addon, and will (probably) not prevent the addon working properly.

An addon being flagged as out of date doesn't actually mean anything. Every addon has to specify which version of the game it's for and if that doesn't exactly match the game's current version number the addon gets marked as out of date.

But most updates to the game don't affect most addons (some probably don't affect any addons) so literally the only problem is the version number.

Some addon authors will take the time to update the version number every time, but I assume that's either because it bothers them as well or it's basically marketing - so it's clear the addon is still being looked after and because updating an addon bumps it up the list in ESOUI. Other addon authors either don't have time to do that for all the addons they're looking after or don't think it's important, so the version number only gets updated when there's actually changes to the addon.

My approach is always to log in with all my addons active and only disable them or look for fixes if there's actually a problem. I've got some which haven't been updated for years and they still working perfectly.

If I would update txt files to increase the API version on each of my maintained addons and libraries, each patch, I'd have to invest like 5-10mins per addon to do so. Update Version numbers, update txt file, update settings menu version, create zip file, upload, write changelog, click like 10 times on the websites to mark all checkboxes that say "archive old" and "upload new version" etc.

This would make me/us invest like hours and days (since 2014) for nothing! As ppl said it's just a version number check that says outdated and it does not reflect if anything is really non working or old. So ignore it.

Btw: Using the forum search and also an online search would have told you the same in a lot of postings, with Screenshots, examples etc :-)

I maintain 19 add-ons and update them during PTS time so that they are ready when the live version of the game hits, many don't need to be updated and I just edit their version number and API number so they can de displayed as up-to-date to users, doing that costs me half a day each time and I totally understand the other add-on devs only updating their add-ons when something has to actually be changed in the code.
