"Looks like ESO isn't the only game going megaserver. It appears that Guild Wars 2 thinks the idea is "wonderful" as well...

EDIT: BTW the Forum moderators on www.guildwars2.com are MAAAASIVEVLY censoring feedback by putting everything into one thread thus diluting the messages. You cannot engage in a debate without it being in a thread with 100+ posts.

Not going good over there as you can imagine... They should just close down servers. ONly a game like ESO that was build/designed around the idea has hope.

That is fast of GW2 .
Megaserver Idea is a great one, and works nicely.

and the breaking comment... please stop with that .....
Almost no MMO has a flawless start, in fact almost no big It project has a flawless start. They work around the clock to fix that.. like almost every other IT company that loves his product.

Maybe in 20 years, but at the moment It projects ave some trouble the first few weeks, they will work it out en we will enjoy this game for years

Ekeiram, they meant that when the server goes down, it goes down for everyone.

It also probably isn't the best time to be touting the greatness of the megaserver lol.

Personally, I'm enjoying the megaserver. It adds an even population to your area and reduced the I'm Alone syndrome associated with other MMOs

    No,
The issue is if there is a problem Everyone loses access to the game.
    That is a big deal.

    Think about it.

Not really, if there is a issue; usually all the servers go down. so no difference.

Yeah, that happens with most games that have individual servers, too. It's rare for only one server to have issues.

The Megaserver concept seems to have first been implemented in The Secret World and Age of Conan (same company); however, it really is a technology that makes a whole lot of sense if it can be implemented rationally. It seems that the logic that will tend to have us play with the same set of other characters most of the time is HARD to implement well (as is seen by ZOS postponing, if not abandoning, the player survey that was supposed to provide guidance to that logic).

    Ah ok :)
I thought because of today, lots of people just don't understand that, and I was pretty annoyed with that :)

It is probably a lot more than one physical server, so if one goes down you will not notice.

Fast in what way? They've been planning and working on this for quite some time and this is part of their feature-pack which they've been detailing for the last few weeks. This is the solution to having low-populated instances of areas running on their servers, what the players have called "underflows" in relation to the "overflows" in the game. I don't think it has the same meaning when used in the ESO-context.

Remember guys GW2 doesn't do phasing so the stability should better...

Doesn't solve the whole "how do you find people" problem without /who. IF you dont add everyone to your freinds you cannot hope to find them again.

    ESP true with RP.
    Indeed it is so...
