Can we please have a global market chat in game

one that is active regardless of zone. Like type /M to enter market chat and people who wish to buy or sell can have their own global chat. I know people in zone chat who complain about people selling in zone chat and those who critique them would certainly appreciate it.

Can we pleassssssssssseeeeee try it? TY.

So multiple players can spam the world instead of just one zone at a time? No thank you.

Its bad enough watching someone try to sell their trash for exorbitant prices while running through Wrothgar during the event right now. Like the player selling a purple Briarheart jack for 20K when they are dropping everywhere for free. Or the player offering to share dailies for 10K. Now imagine that can be done by everyone, everywhere, all the time. Would need a Tamriel-wide pop-up ad blocker for an add-on to stop it.

If this was constrained to one building, like a stock market or [GASP] an auction house, then I would be for it.

It would get overflooded too quickly, making it hard to keep track of things (like a Twitch livestream chatbox).

I don't think that's what the OP is describing. It's an OPT IN global chat.

One thing I would like changed is having to be part of a guild or shout out in chat to sell something.

Sometimes things can be gatekept in a guild and in my opinon it is not a good thing.

This is why we need a central AH for bid on auctions.

id be for it if it stopped people from spamming ads in zone chat, but it wont.

actually having a game-wide chat open would be terrible though.

If they did that, I think people would realize how large the player count is. The chat would probably be useless.

To buy and sell stuff with access to everyone on the server rather than in the specific zone, I imagine. Although whether ESO's servers can actually *do* that seems questionable.

If you could refine it, then I would agree. Maybe one for gear or motifs or whatever. But its a constant flood of information, which is the current model, dealing with only one zone.

I am all for a global marketplace. The game needs it, even if it were still guilds bidding for spots in the auction house. But a Tamriel-wide game chat feels unwieldly. Like a stock market crawl but with way more info.

No thanks. There are many trade guilds you can join and there is TTC to search for items other guilds are selling. What you're asking for is just shy of a global auction house.

no you dont have to open the market chat. it wouldnt be like that. you are misconstruing everythin i said. If you have to type /M to enter it you wouldnt see it unless you chose to open it.

    Sheesh!

If it had no negative impact on server performance I don't see why not. Then we need one for guild recruitment spam.

Selling stuff in zone chat is either people trying to sell high-value items, and avoid guild taxes, or sell stuff that's only barely worth listing, while avoiding guild minimums or fees. I mean, I get it, but I hate the spam in the otherwise useful and fun zone chat with it. My advice to them is: Just join a guild, and use the system that's already in place.

The problem with global chats is it is exactly what RMT needs to reach the maximum number of people. It will be flooded with bots.

It would look like Twitch chat during the ZOS chapter reveal. I am pretty sure the only people who would use it would be sellers, and the messages would be in ALL CAPS and colored to attract attention for the half second it is visible in the window. Sellers can just cross-post between zone chat and global market chat, because it is a very small thing to do that. There would be no reason to drop Zone in favor of Global.

I think the net would be no change to the number of people trying to sell in Zone chat and the addition of a new chat that no one reads.

However, even if people can't use the chat, an addon can. An addon could read and write messages to that channel to communicate between players running a compatible addon. Something like TTC or MM could use it to communicate things in the guild traders. Obviously, that would not benefit the console players, but the PC players would probably use such a thing. If ZOS allowed it.

A lot of speculation. Let's try it and see what happens. If the impact is that normal zone chat is less spammy and people can buy in sell in global marketplace chat by CHOOSING to opt in with /M then it could benefit people.
