Pull from halfway across the bridge?

Twice now I have been pulled form a bridge right into a group of enemies, but it just me.
What is that skill?

And how do I defend?

Fog of battle, too much going on!

There are two things, favorites of trolls:
    1) There is a necro armor that pulls you to them if you do damage
    2) There is a warden skill, frozen retreat. It is used to exploit geometry these days on the Alessian bridge, like Dark Convergence used to do until ZOS (rightly) changed it to prevent this.
The troll sits on the outer ledge of the bridge, and casts Frozen retreat on the ground. If you enter that AoE, you are pulled to where the troll is. Since there isn't room for two, you fall of into the river and get killed by slaughterfish.

Note that DC/AD and DC/Ep don't have a bridge, so this exploit only works between EP and AD which for some reason have a bridge instead of a gate.

Oh, they also use this in keep defenses, if you are on the porch, they pull you into where all their cold fire/meatbags/oils are hitting inside the keep and you die. I don't consider this an exploit since it doesn't exploit the geometry, but it is still annoying :)

YOu can defend by blocking, but it is very hard to see the AoE of these speels (if there even is one) so often there is no defense
2 GOs, an overlord and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

Just to actually correct this, All pulls in the game run a check to see if there is space available where the 'pulled' player would land. You cannot pull someone directly off of any structure. What these players are actually doing is relying on the momentum of the players movement direction. So if you stop moving as soon as you see yourself being pulled you will generally prevent yourself from walking/running off of that structure.

There is however as you rightly mention a difference between the LoS checks and vertical LoS checks of some pulls. For example Dark convergence will only pull if you are on a certain tolerance of vertical alignment as an opponent, I'm fairly sure this type of check wouldn't actually matter in the context of the bridge as the game would consider the vertical difference of the edge to the area where you are pulled from the same.

It all comes down to Cyrodiil needing to finally manage their out of control slaughterfish population. You would think, with a group of fish that have killed millions, that the factions wouldn’t try and eliminate them once and for all?

These hordes of fish are the REAL ball groups.

I think you are technically right, there is a 1 foot ledge. I notice if I hold block instantly when I am pulled, I end up on the ledge along with the troll. However, he is in a group that aims meatbags, javelin, arrow spray etc etc at him. So once you are pulled to that 1 foot ledge, you get buried with attacks from 5 or more other players. You can't practically speaking do anything to get off. It is very similar to when DC would pull you to the outside ledges of the keep, very occasionally you could jump back up and in but many times you would just fall off-- especially if you are immediately attacked by 5 other players and/or bombed. So I still think this is an exploit.

By way of comparison, when this same troll pulls me into the keep, there are still 5 or more sieges plus 10+ player damage focused on him. However, in that instance, I can dodge roll out and most of the time get away. No such options on the tiny little ledge where the troll sits.
