major expedition vs major expedition

i recently tinkered with a pvp bow build and discovered that the major expedition passive from the bow skill line (4 sec after dodgeroll) is hella faster than the major expedition on warden’s deceptive predator.

same speed buff from medium armor on both builds.

when i hit major exped on my bow build, i literally blaze outta there— I’m gone and ppl cant follow.

i think its the animation of those stupid warden wings slowing deceptive predator significantly.

Kinda like those laughable, silly, madcap flapping cliff racers. Slow as molasses.

So I’m rediscovering the obvious in the eso universe: skills with less animation work better and faster, regardless of tooltip info

Thoughts?

you have to walk to cast spells, but you can dodge while running (if I'm not mistaken)

If say you're using a controller to sprint where it is a toggle, the moment you cast anything it turns off sprint back to regular run speed, you have to tap sprint again to make it go.

I’m using an xbox controller, and I have been playing for almost 3 years now, and I think I’m pretty adept. I have it toggled forward, but the wings animation slows everything down for at least the first second, and it makes a noticeable difference.

Anytime you cast any skill while sprinting, you should almost instantly (like 100-200 mileseconds) press sprint again to regain momentum. It definitely does not slow your character down for 1s, it does the same thing any skill does. You could try Race Against Time, Quick Cloak, or Boundless Storm. It's all the same as Bird of Prey despite Bird of Prey having a pretty long VFX animation. It's just fluff, it doesn't actually stop your character because all 4 of these skills are considered "instant" cast.

What you're potentially noticing is the fact that roll dodge is a set animation that can't really be cancelled and the major expedition activates the moment that roll is complete making it appear like you get this huge boost of speed because you're going from pretty slow to really fast. If anything, roll dodge is a slower form of application than Bird of Prey if you know how to sprint -> skill -> sprint properly.

I'm willing to bet 2 players racing side by side with bow dodge vs warden wings, warden would win.

That said, I mean bow is great, it happens passively. You usually dodge in pvp fights once every 4-6s anyway so it's up a lot.

i must correct here, the sprint button must also be released for a dodge roll
