Why are the Hew's Bane treasure maps so expensive?

They basically changed the prices overnight. I was keeping an eye on them in TTC and they would occasionally appear priced up to several thousands. Then, one day some traders posted several in the range from 19mil to 40 mil. Needless to say I no longer interested in them. No book furnishing worth this much. Especially since the books do not even have a unique look (like some from other zones do).

I still wonder though why these particular maps are so rare (I do not think I've got one as a drop in about 4 years of playing), and where they actually drop from.

What do you mean books? Like motifs or furnishings?

Edit: If they are indeed are dropped only from Cyro daily coffers, I wonder why that is the case. It's not like Hew's Bane treasure maps drop anything out of the ordinary (to my knowledge). Some other maps are a lot more interesting - they drop paintings, for example.

There are a lot of Cyodiil specific (or weighted) drops that are quite scarce, because very few go there to farm items. Some of the rare Redguard plans that sell for millions can be found primarily in Cyro containers. At least that's been my personal experience. So it's not unreasonable to think that certain treasure maps are also coded to drop in one place more frequently than others.

The question is "Why this one"? What is so special about it?

There are literally hundreds of Hew's Bane treasure maps listed for sale on TTC. I highly doubt they all came from Cyrodiil conquest mission daily coffers. I've done thousands of Cyro dailies and never received a Hew's Bane map from one that I can recall. So unlike the rare purple Redguard plans that I have gotten there, I can't personally say that the drop rate is better or worse in Cyro for a specific map.

There weren’t before the event started. I looked then up a few times because I’m collecting the book furnishings and there were never more than half a dozen at a time,most priced in the millions.
