Problem with Gloambound Weapons on Nightblades

The glow from Grim Focus doesn't go away when you stow your weapons, not even if you have the Gloambound style equiped, which is supposed to hide your weapons altogether when sheathed. Resulting in this ugly and unintended effect:

It's a shame that a cosmetic style that is being sold for real money doesn't work the way it should and is ruined by this badly implemented cosmetic effect of Grim Focus. Most Nightblades run this skill because of how powerful it is. Please fix Gloambound style to hide the glow or remove the glow from Grim Focus with weapons sheathed.

Also it doesn't make sense for a stealthy character to glow that much even with sheathed weaps.

this has been a continuous problem since gloambound weapons were first added, and became significantly more noticeable with the "perma glow" from grim focus due to the change of the skill

theres been many a complaint threads about this, even when it was first released

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

It's the same on arcanist, DK, and sorcerer when you use certain skills. Been that way for years; dunno if they'll fix that visual bug.

Even without Gloambound Weapons, having Grim Focus glow like that when your weapons are sheathed is a terrible idea.

Really puts me off from playing my Nightblade, sadly.

there is also another long running thread complaining about that too lol (see: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/641376/grim-focus-permaglow/p1)

I've actually stopped slotting Grim Focus unless I absolutely need it for this reason. I wish it would only glow when it's ready to proc.

you know if they fix the perma glow, the stacks will fall off again outside of combat right?

Not if they fix it the right way. The skill works alright but the visuals are poorly implemented.

Love Gloambound but my magplar has the same problem with solar barrage - when she stows her staff before the 20 second timer on that skill is up, she has a glowing ball over her shoulder until the timer runs out.

It’s not the same problem, though, but a similar one. Your skill times out and the glow goes away, correct?

The nightblade skill does not have a timer anymore so it never goes away.

I guess this is what was hinted at as “working as intended”. They did not realize it was tied to the timer and this is an unintended effect. The skill has lost its ability to inform the player about the status of the stacks though, so the glow is useless. The skill is bugged now.

It's a bug that the devs have tried to pass off as an intended design feature because fixing it would involve delving into the code. Which for whatever reason there seems to be a reluctance to do. They really should get on to this promptly now with the 10th Year anniversary coming up. Not a good look to have some rather embarrassing bugs still in the game when you are celebrating your game reaching 10 years old. They could at least try to make it look like they care.

@katanagirl1 you are right - similar but not exactly the same problem. Solar Barrage times out and the glow goes away for my magplar using Gloambound so it is just a minor irritant. My poor magblade using Gloambound, however, removed Grim Focus due the permaglow. I mean, what's the point of being an adventuress if you can't look good doing it?

With the gloambound weapons is particularly egregious, however it is also an irritation with many other combinations.

One of my NBs uses grey/blue/white as colours, matching the character, the mount and the pet. Now it has a red glow on the staff.

Another uses two tones of gold and purple accents, again matching character, mount and pet. Again red glow on the staff. In this case the red glow overrides the golden glow of the staff itself which irks me no end.

A third one uses different shades of blue, same as above, except this one uses a gloambound staff which means it has a red glow floating over the shoulder.

This also includes skins to complete the look.

I could go on but to summarise, out of 9 nightblades with carefully curated appearances that I find aesthetically and thematically pleasing only one (who is just black on black with some more black for good measure) does not result on a horrible clash. I replaced the mount with one that has glowing red eyes and it kinda works wit with the glowing daggers.

That is a large amount of crown store items, hundreds of hours unlocking dyes and a lot of thought, experimentation, trial and error marred by one design decision.

    Please make it a toggle.

Yes, that's my issue as well, it's so noticeable that it ruins complete outfits.

@ZOS_Kevin could you update us on the team's thoughts on this? A while has passed since they implemented the Grim Focus changes.
