Please fix Selene's quest

Do you know how many times I've taken a new character into Selene's for the quest and skill point, only to have the rest of the group run off and kill the first set of mobs before Carindon can get around to deciding he wants to talk to me? Once that first group is dead, Carindon will not give you the quest. Doesn't matter how many times I ask a group to wait, there's someone who's just in a hurry to get their RND rewards and doesn't even have group chat enabled, because they don't care about anyone else but themselves. Let us start the dungeon quest when we first get in if we don't feel like listening to 5 minutes of exposition before the quest will start.

If you're unable to find a like-minded group then port into the dungeon solo and pick up the quest.

Then you could either use the queue to find a random group to run the Selene's Web dungeon or just stash the quest until the next time that dungeon pops up randomly.

edit: or just solo the dungeon, if you're comfortable doing that.

I think volenfell is similar (are there others? I don't recall) - if you can't get the npc quest started before Leroy et al set off, it's borked.

I know the suggestion I made is the equivalent of standing on one leg with a bucket over your head and whistling a random tune backwards (aka player workaround for broken design) but it should hopefully help get over the immediate frustration hump of these rather tedious dungeon quest shennanigans.

And, yes, this should be fixed so npc's aren't monologuing for 30 seconds+ before offering the quest; it's kind of boring for premades, too, although in those cases normally those not needing the quest port in later.

Vaults of Madness is one of the worst offenders for this (not *sure* if the quest gets messed up if the group doesn't wait, but you have to wait for the NPC to offer it... then there are 2 more times you have to wait to talk to an NPC and it's easy to miss and very annoying to wait for) - I do hope they get a fix!

Thanks. Forgot about that one. I think you can still grab the quest but the dungeon might be finished by the rest of the group before the npcs are all done. Shame, really: that's actually a good story and an otherwise excellently designed dungeon.

Hadn't thought of this work around, will try this the next time I'm in this situation. Thanks.

Still shouldn't be necessary. If Leroy and pals take off through the dungeon, the game should just allow the quest to start anyway and then immediately forward to whatever state the quest should be in depending on how much of the dungeon has been cleared.

And yes, we really need a "fast forward I've been in this dungeon 738 times I don't need to hear Gasteau and Reynelle chat for 10 minutes while the rest of the group kills the next two bosses" button for Vaults of Madness. Maybe a "hit "X" to skip dialogue?

And that's one more reason why dungeons should have a story/solo mode...
PAWS (Positively Against Wrip-off Stuff) - Say No to Crown Crates!. Outfit slots not being accountwide is ridiculous given their price. PC EU/PC NA roleplayer and solo PvE quester

I don't disagree, that a story/solo mode would be a nice QoL-addition. Nonetheless selene's web is soloable just fine at present.

Basically you are asking for optional lower difficulty, which could be called "a waste of development resources" by others.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

I'm just two manning them for the skill points.

Got a list, going down it. A bit over a third of the way through.

Just did Selene two days ago. ><

      Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's dungeon related.

      Thank you for your understanding
