[Asylum Sanctorium Normal] Why people keep dying by the thunder damage?
https://xynodegaming.com/asylum-sanctorium/

Each time boss's thunder attacking, people keep dying even with decent healer.
Suddenly people start running around the area like the "headless chicken" without any of self healing,
and 70% of players are dead.

Why?

Just don't run around all over the area, healer can't do the job. :s
My playing time Mon-Friday UTC13:00-16:00 [PC-NA] CP over2000 now.
I have [1Tough tank] [1StamSorc-DD] [1Necro-DD] [1Real Healer]
with [1Stam Blade].
But, I'm Tank main player. Recently I'm doing Healer.

I'm not sure what you mean by thunder damage, do you mean the lightning AoEs? If so, DPS have to actually do mechanics correctly or they'll kill everyone else (at least on vet) and that isn't a thing people like to do in normal content. Asylum Sanctorium is very mechanic-driven. Look up "asylum sanctorum kite lanes" and look at the images.

"do you mean the lightning AoEs?"

Yes, I mean "lightning AoE". It's something shock damage AoE.

The mechanic is the dd kites them, either walking backwards in lanes or in a square as you can move slightly faster than the aoe. In normal you may be able to eat a couple, on vet they kill

Yes, this. Players who run backwards run out of room and tend to overlap others, and voila, dead. There are also melee players who get too close to the boss to DPS and then run/roll dodge backwards out of their lane into another player, same result.

I'm happy you brought up the square, @fizl101. You can move around in circle/box in a slow, controlled manner if you are a melee player and too close to the boss instead of roll dodging back onto another player and killing them. If you see a player running, its because they do not know what they are doing.

I always walk backwards, but running backwards is definitely a bad idea since yeah, you run out of room. Can’t go past the square in the middle of the room or you run into the group healer’s area, so have to make a candy cane shape by going back towards the boss. I do this sometimes but it’d be a lot worse if I was sprinting, especially because if you have to go sideways too quickly you’ll get hit by one of Olm’s aoes. Melee probably shouldn’t be in AS anyways, its a very ranged trial between the kiting and jumping and spheres and interrupting.

the dmg ramps up every time you get hit by those lightning balls

on vet it usually will kill a dps after 2 hits

on normal you might be able to take 3 or 4 before dying as a dps

healers in this trial are mainly used to kite mechanics, and only provide minimal healing to the group (especially the tank healer), so dps should be prepared to have at least a self heal or shield until they get some hots from the group healer
