January crown store showcase and the disappointment.

The biggest disappointment is the fact that its just 1 crate instead of 2 and second it should of been the frost atronach crate instead of the psijic vault crate.

Zos had a good thing going with more crates and now the start of 2024 is the deepest disappointment for so many players. you could of started 2024 with a super nova of a showcase and now you sunk into the deepest depths of the ocean as possible.

I think I'm done posting on the forums. I tried everything possible. I gave feedback clearly pointing out we needed more crates on the crown store for us to cycle through it faster. Zos did that for only 2 month and now we are back to single crates and I have to wait the entire WHOLE DAMN 2024 YEAR to get the Crown crate I want. I'm done. my disappointment is at the level of very deep depression. all because of Zenimax online studios own choices.

It’s the highlights, not an exclusive list, and they can throw in another item here and there without notice. And where does the wait the whole year part come from? You only have a single month’s data.

I'm very happy the psijic crates are coming back, it's got the only radiant apex mount I like (the purple horse). I refuse to buy loot boxes because they're always a waste of money and didn't have enough seals of endeavor last time it came back, so this is my chance to finally get it.

I'm also going to get the soul shriven costume pack and might get the lynx mount as well (although I want to preview it in-game first).

There was no reason to expect additional crate seasons to return this month — last month was because crate gifting was disabled for much of the year. It might make sense to bring back more than one season more frequently as the list to cycle grows longer.

I’m sure the Frost Atronach crates will return soon — they’re one of the next due to return. I know it’s frustrating when you’re waiting a long time for something — I waited two years(!) to get Tel Galen.

Regular crates would be nice! A free mount on Day 2 is pretty cool tho. The mount riding stuff is nice for new players/new characters, not as helpful for older, fully-mount-leveled characters.

Regarding that mount: I couldn't help noticing another durzog mount in the crown store (an ESO+ deal), but it's EXACTLY the same as the day 2 login reward, except for the colouring, i.e. just another reskin.

Really disappointed. Still no Frost Atronach Crates (last seen Dec 2021) but rather we have Psijic Vault Crates (last seen Feb 2022). I guess I shall wait another month now and hope it returns for February

Also back to only one returning crate this month. With 30 crates and counting that is a two and a half year wait to see a returning crate. Again really disappointing

Also the Crown store items are mostly just repetitions of what was made available fairly recently. A very boring month. Maybe January is a poor sales month after the big Christmas spend, so they didn't bother doing much for the Crown store?

Questions still remain...

The real problem is the fact that these items are in gamble boxes. I wouldn't be surprised to see laws passed in the coming years banning this practice, or pressure from Microsoft to eliminate the loot crate mechanics. If these were limited time items you could simply pay for directly (no, I am not gracing "Gems" as a method to purchase items), they would sell better.

Games like ESO can be a great source of enjoyment and escape but it is impossible that any one will never disappoint you and if all your anticipation is tied to it, the disappointment may feel the greater, as your post suggests. I hope for your health and happiness you can find additional sources of joy, and then I think you will find greater joy from ESO as well when it is in balance.

What item(s) from the Frost Atronach crates were you looking forward to for your Arcanist? I expect those crates will return sometime in the next few months, but perhaps there are items in game you could work toward getting for them in the meantime? The Scribes of Mora motif is awesome and there is the mount, furnishings, and other items from the Infinite Archive if you don’t have those yet. I find playing IA a good way to take my mind off other things.

Bright side: another month of not being tempted to spend money.

Besides, some people use Nazaray arms pack on their arc bc its green and we’ve had that. Can also buy the Scrivener’s Hall motif probably (not that I would recommend spending crowns on motifs but if you don’t have enough gold you can).

I waited two years for a mount I wanted and kept my seals for it because I didn't know when it would return and was hesitant spending them. And then the crates returned, I got my mount and although I'm glad to finally have it, it's not the be all and end all of my gaming experience. Generally I find not focusing so much on crate content, and having the mindset of 'oh well, I'll get it when I get it' is much better, and once you start doing that, it won't really matter what's in them. There will always be shiny items in the crates, but even if you had all of them it wouldn't make a big difference if you were otherwise enjoying the game anyway. I've got a gazillion cosmetic pets, they are all cute and stuff, but I mostly reuse my favourite ones. So keep enjoying the game, and when the crates roll back you'll get the mount then, but also you might find you won't even want it anymore.

Getting upset over gambling loot crates that are designed to siphon literally hundreds of dollars from you is a big problem.

I wish these things weren't in the game at all and instead were earnable rewards in game.

That's what the Endeavour system is for. ZOS didn't say this of course but it was the first new thing implemented after they were acquired by Microsoft - who have a policy that anything from loot boxes will also be earnable by playing, and that's exactly what the Endeavours system does. Of course it's slow enough that players still have an incentive to buy crown crates instead, but it allows them to make a show of being consumer friendly and lays the groundwork for more changes when they're required.

I'm sitting on over 30k seals of endeavors and unable to use them until the crown crate I want appears. which is predicted to be this year. but to the shame of Zos it will be very late this year instead of in a few months.
