I think it is about time the dye system in the outfit station is updated to allow the base colours of the dyes available to be separate from their finish. No more choosing the perfect colour for the armour component you are dying and it being too glossy or not shiny enough etc.

Please can we have this simple QoL change in 2024 please. Many thanks.

Definitely long overdue.

There are quite a few styles I love that dye horribly and it doesn’t matter what you do, you can’t match it to the rest of your gear.

I dislike so many dyes are stuck behind pvp.

I hate pvp , but i sure love dark/gray colors...

The whole system needs to change. Why are so many stuck behind systems that some players refuse to do like PVP? This is just one thing that this game needs to change to include everyone's playing style. For a game that claims it caters to everyone they sure do lock things behind walls a lot.

Imo the problem is not that some dyes are locked behind pvp, the problem is that these are basic dyes (non-shiny vibrant red, black etc).
I don't mind if pvp had even more cosmetics and maybe even special houses/mounts, but the basic plain dyes like white, black, yellow, purple etc should be easily available imo.

I would be happy if the same dye looked the same on all styles. For some reason it doesn’t.

Would be nice. There's way too few matte dyes, and being able to make all of them matte would be great. I don't get why they are making so many dyes that are extremely saturated and got weird two-tone ultra glossiness finish on them.

I feel this... unlocking Legate Black was an absolute pain.

I have done it on two accounts but the third is probably going to have to do without.

I'm not much of a PvP player but when it comes to cosmetic choices like dyes I like a complete set. so even after 9 years of playing ESO, I still don't have the higher rank PvP dyes. Which isn't helped by the fact they are so arduous to get even if you PvP a lot. I think breaking the dyes into base colour and then the finish is an equitable compromise if ZoS wants to keep these other dyes locked behind certain content such as PvP rank.

As other's mentioned as well the same dyes often apply differently to certain armour styles/sets which really shouldn't be the case as it makes something that is supposed to be a relaxed and simple aspect of the game a bit of a headache. Definitely something ZoS should keep their eye on and start to address.

On armour styles also, it would be really great if ZoS went and added dye slots to armour styles/pieces that either don't have the full 3 colours to slot colours in but still undyeable parts. Or just overhauled and added a couple more slots to a total of 4 or 5 dye slots to accommodate parts of certain styles we can't currently dye that do have the 3 slots now. Dragonguard and Pyre Watch motifs featuring undyeable red components being a couple examples.

yes that would be great- and yes, please, more matte browns.

it´s a real challenge to dye some costumes and some will just never look good. i have many colors but matching a custom outfit is hard- especially when using brown. so many armor pieces and costumes make brown look metallic when it´s supposed to look like leather...

I love reds and I too am disappointed that so many lovely colors are locked behind PVP, something I have no interest in. Where are all the ToT reds? I love Card Shark Crimson, but on so many things it just looks shiny and plastic.

Also so many locked behind vet content.

I wish I could just dig up dyes like furnishings...
