Leveling Enchantment

When farming runes (which in itself is pretty time consuming) are the level of all three types completely random in the first two zones? I would assume once I get to Grahtwood the level 2 and 3 potency runes will be more abundant, is that a correct assumption?

It also seems that when actually creating enchantments the inspiration gain is really minimal, looks like the same as deconstructing an enchantment. I go out and farm resources for a hour or two only to create/deconstruct around 20ish enchantments, but I gain less than a level. Does this seem to be the "norm" for everyone else?

    i know you get less xp deconstructing your own creations (some ppl are trading crafted items for deconstruction so they will get 100% xp). I got to lvl 5 pretty quickly, after that, it's slowed down.

    Also for some reason none of my gear or weapons will accept the enchants i make, that's what I'm here looking for info on

    I find it frustrating that so many of the low level things are jewelry enchantments and there seems to be no jewelry to enchant. Am I missing something?

    There's crafting gear, random weapon and armour drops that "increase the inspiration gained from" blah blah blah. They may be useful. At least, My XP gains got a little bump.

    The xp from deconstruction is relative to your level of enchanting and the level requirement of the glyph your deconstructing.

    aspect runes have no level and can be found for any type anywhere

    potency runes are leveled and are found relative to their level on those level zones but they are still found a little at higher and lower levels on some occasions

    essence runes have no level and can be found any where anytime but come mostly from deconstruction

    Right now there are 3 pieces of jewelry you can wear and 18 different enchantments for that jewelry. You wear 7 pieces of armor, but there are only 3 types of enchantments for armor. This system is kinda weird imho ... also I agree that there are just a few pieces of jewelry available at low levels (mostly from quest rewards) and yet the majority of enchants you can make are jewelry related.

    All the enchantments are for a specific piece of equipment. For example, the vast majority of enchantments I've randomly crafted are for jewelry. Now, we can't craft jewelry, however, I've found a lvl 14 white piece of jewelry that can accept those enchantments. Hover over the icon and check what piece of equipment the enchantment is actually for.

    so far enchanting is worthless, nothing I enchant is usable so all it does is take up space. To me this is a waste of time. Unlike crafting for gear, weapons and potions all very nice and worth the time.

    It doesn't make sense that majority of rune-combinations at low levels seem to create Jewelry enchantments when there are no enchantable jewelry pieces available. Either tweak the drop rates to produce more armor/weapon rune combinations or introduce enchantable jewelry at earlier levels...

    I suppose jewelry glyphs are useful to deconstruct for a few inspiration points.

    You need to unlock or "translate" enough runes so that you can combine them into weapon or armor glyphs. When combining 3 runes that are all translated, it will tell you ahead of time whether you're making a jewelry, armor, or weapon glyph and what enchantment it will be. Then it's a matter of remembering which runes are useful.

    Enchanting is quite useful once you control what glyphs you create. I just make +magicka or +stamina glyphs and enchant every piece of armor I make for myself and +damage enchantment on weapon(s). Tanks might want +health but I haven't rolled one yet.

    I seem to find fewer Aspect runes (the round ones) than the other types which makes that the limiting factor in being able to put rune combinations together.

    You get the most experience from initially translating a rune. So when you first start and do not know any of the 3 you get the biggest exp bump. For the next biggest exp bump, use 1 known and 2 unknown. The exp goes down from there. The higher the lvl you deconstruct the more exp, but it will never be as much as when you combine 3 unknown. I am crafting very little jewelry enchantments. You must look at the translations to understand what you are crafting. Hope this helps.

    Confirmed...

    1) Swapping with someone else to deconstruct does help more
    2) The "Ratio" I've seen on finding Runes is about 5-10% of them are Aspect. That really seems LOW to me for craft that requires 1/3 ratio. Maybe they can swap out some of the others and beef up the spawn rate of Aspect (lower-mid).
    3) The more powerful the enchantment the better XP you get. (Green Aspect and level 15 range rune combo).

    I'll just take my 40% extra spell damage elsewhere then shall I? :wink: I'll take my armour reducing weapon elsewhere too huh? It's handy stuff.

    Once you get over the hump enchanting is useful. It lets you tweak a few of the builds that are outside of the box but slightly missing on stats.

    It also lets you spec for your task. Spellcasting fiesta on a quest? Boom. I'll max out my spell resist, same for fire or the other elements. Same for armour. I softcap in light. Which frees a slot on my bar and magicka in my pool for other things.

    It's incredibly useful if you're prepared to do some thinking. For most builds, it's a perk - for the really great, out of the box thinking builds - it's a godsend.

    Experience wise yeah, it's a killer and in terms of balance, with good reason. For me it's insanely rewarding. It gives me options, but only if I take some time to think about what I'm doing.

    A few tips

    Head, Body, Legs - maybe feet. They'll respond best to stat glyphs, you get a reduction elsewhere. Use those for supporting stats ( Health or stamina if you've gone magicka glyph crazy on your main items).

    High range potency grants higher range XP - stop using your purples and blues on junk crafts.

    On the subject of purples, blues and golds - Behave. There's nothing more annoying than some *** who's found a gold rune. The amount of people who refuse to trade a decent bit of kit for a rune they can't use is mental. Try to disassociate the colour with the value. A purple rune is useless on it's own, and isn't all that rare. The amount I've sold for silly money is staggering. Especially when the poor sod isn't far enough in the skill line to use it. Ker-ching. People see purple and apply WoW thinking.

    Money is not the only thing of value. Exploit the current overvaluation with some smart item trades if you really need those runes.



    There is a jewellery vendor! You just have to look in the right place, but I'll leave that one at that.

    Enchanting is perfectly fine. Mines only level 19 but I can make purple 35-45 glyphs in abundance. Even have 4 legendary runes saved up as well.

    Anything that drops should either have the trait learned or deconstructed.
    After that you just make a copy of the item for yourself.
    You make the white item with the same trait and the upgrade, (if you really think you need it) and then the enchant...

    Depending on my leveling speed, I'll re-gear every 2-4 levels.
    All drops are researched or deconstructed.

    I'd agree that jewelry enchants are useless. Good pieces have a 'lock icon' that you can't overwrite the enchant. And unlike armor/weps, you can't upgrade a lesser piece to rarer quality then apply a good enchant.

    You also get far less xp working this skill. As said before there are no intricate versions, yet xp gains are equal or less to de-ing white crap for tailor/bs

    Did they not think that part through? Triple whammy if u ask me.

    The rarity of potency runes over aspect needs to be looked at too. You need one for every single enchant, but seems to be 20% of my runes at best. also you out level the T1-2 potency runes very quickly and only get 4 'disco' xp per potency tier.

    I just spoke to every NPC within the guild walls at Auridon. None of them offer jewelry. It must an area dependent thing.

    NPC stuff is 4x-8x the current economy value. No point in hunting that crap down.

    Did some math. At L10 enchanting, it takes me 50 dropped glyphs of a variety of Petty, Slight, Minor to get to L11

    Got 3 or 4k per potency rune discovery, which is maybe half a level at L10. (did T2 and T3 discos and extracted 25 runes far above my lv to go from L10-11)

    Dunno how people say this isn't broken.

    On the stores to buy jewelry in mages guild...I don't know about the other's but I am in Elden root now and in the back the Magus store does have jewelry you can purchase.

    I am in the same boat! My thoughts are that 25+ might be for vet ranks so it feels slow but even at level 10ish in enchanting I can make enchants up to 35. Honestly been finding enchants super useful to keep my fire resistance up since I'm a vampire.

    Enchanting is useful when crafting your own gear. As such, enchanting as a lone profession is unlikely to be useful (unless you're in the habit of equipping white quality drops).

    As it happens, I wish I could find more aspect rune of decent quality to make more crafted armour. As things stand, I mostly make myself weapons. I guess I'll get more benefit as I near level cap but, as for others, I'm finding enchanting a long old slog. I think I've had more levels from bookcases than crafting.

    Tell that to my current lvl daggers (I'm lvl 14) with +9 fire or frost damage on them. When they proc the effect is awesome :)

    It might become cost prohibitive later but currently, being able to craft all my gear is much preferred because I then don't have to rely on bloated merchant pricing or random drops to keep my equipment current.

    Literally the only problem I have is either not having enough improvement items to do all my gear and not having the right aspect stone to make the enchantment I want! Such is the randomness of finding them.

    You people who think enchanting is worthless are simply ignorant. Learn more whine less. All other crafts are so oversimplified and easy that you believe enchanting should be the same but you are wrong.

    Edit: The games been dumbed down enough as it is, if you can't figure out simple enchanting then just buy the glyphs off a guild storefront in cyrodil, stop ruining the game for others.

    the reason to level enchanting would be to make stronger enchants at endgame....I have not seen a blue+ quality enchant drop yet and doubt they will so to get the strongest (yellow) enchants u gotta make them urself or buy them
