Companions and their ultimate

A question about the companions ultimate, do they lose all their gained ultimate when changing zones? Sharp seems to lose his ultimate whenever I change zones either by wayshrine or teleporting to a home in another zone. Is this a bug or is this how it is supposed to work? At this point I have given up on trying to get his ultimate up when he loses any gains I have made when I change zones.

✭✭✭✭✭Intentional. They're meant to have low impact on server load so they are treated the same way as pets. If you want to increase gains on their Ultimate, give them Parallel and Haste.0
