Got my first two fragment decks (Hunding & Amalexia) and beat a novice NPC: 51-1.

Weird but better than losing 10-42 to a novice NPC.

So, does this mean novice NPCs play WORSE now? 🙂

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's about Tales Of Tribute.

    Thank you for your understanding

A novice NPC should kind of suck, or else it’s not novice.

But me winning 51-1 is over the top because I’m not that smart.

I just lost a match 22-48 against a novice NPC and can't figure out why. (From memory) In his third round he almost doubled his 12 prestige to 22 when he didn't earn the power or changed a patron. I shrugged it off, but then two rounds later he doubled his prestige again without anything to show for it, claiming victory out of nowhere.

Now I don't mind losing if I can reason why and learn from it, but this smacks of plain old AI cheating. Are they known to do that sometimes?

He only had Hlaalu already in play.

I'm pretty convinced Patron Hlaalu is the cause. Every time they pick him, their prestige raises around 10 points. Problem being they get to pick him each turn, while I have to wait 2-3 rounds for some reason. Still not convinced AI is playing fair.

All I can say is it's a good thing the novice NPC isn't very smart, cause it is crazy lucky.

I've played a bunch of AI games this past month to see what the hubub is about. Even when the AI get's a start that should smash me to a million pieces, it makes predictable mistakes that are easy to use for overcoming them.

Players really shouldn't be losing against the AI.

We shouldn't. That much is correct.

So, I have seen this on occasion. All of a sudden, the NPC would end a turn with a massive bump in prestige. I, too, would wonder where the 8-10 prestige would come from as I sifted through their cooldown pile and could only account for 3-4 prestige through what they played, including the patron. Its only early in the game, around rounds 3-4 and again in rounds 5-6. Its got to be a glitch.

It also happens with the expert NPCs, so its not just a novice thing.

i dont think ive seen that happen, and stuff like patron uses dont show up in the "played/combo" section

when i do play the NPCs im usually only half paying attention, usually its on the side while im working from home or something lol

if hlaalu was in play, depending on what was sacrificed they could easily generate 8-9 prestige from a single card, if they got say a 10 cost card, which would give 9 prestige when sacrificed (which the NPC regularly will do for pretty much any card thats able to be sacrificed)

thats why i usually play rahjin/red eagle against npcs, you can slow them down significantly with bewilderments, and they remove random good cards either through card removal, oversacrificing with hlaalu, or even using the treasury on good cards

rahjin also does -prestige as well to counter their hlaalu sacrifices

@Necrotech_Master correct, but you can visually see what card was eliminated by the Hlaalu patron. In the cases where I've seen this specific event, the NPC did not have a card that could account for the missing prestige, and the power cards played are still in the NPC's cooldown. The unaccounted for prestige would need at least a card valued at 6 or higher to make up the gap, and the card that was eliminated was in the 4 and below range, like a Customs Seizure card. Also, when it happens, the NPC uses the patron early in the turn, not at the end, then plays other cards before ending the turn.

Again, its very unusual, both in frequency and how it transpires. Its like the game double-counts the prestige when the turn ends, as in the NPC gets the value when it uses the Hlaalu patron, then gets it again at the end of the turn. My reaction the handful of times I've seen it is, "Where did that come from?" as its well after the NPC has cashed the card
