I just lost a match 22-48 against a novice NPC and can't figure out why. (From memory) In his third round he almost doubled his 12 prestige to 22 when he didn't earn the power or changed a patron. I shrugged it off, but then two rounds later he doubled his prestige again without anything to show for it, claiming victory out of nowhere.
Now I don't mind losing if I can reason why and learn from it, but this smacks of plain old AI cheating. Are they known to do that sometimes?
He only had Hlaalu already in play.Personofsecrets wrote: »I just lost a match 22-48 against a novice NPC and can't figure out why. What were the Patrons in use?
We shouldn't. That much is correct.Personofsecrets wrote: »I've played a bunch of AI games this past month to see what the hubub is about. Even when the AI get's a start that should smash me to a million pieces, it makes predictable mistakes that are easy to use for overcoming them.
Players really shouldn't be losing against the AI.
I'm pretty convinced Patron Hlaalu is the cause. Every time they pick him, their prestige raises around 10 points. Problem being they get to pick him each turn, while I have to wait 2-3 rounds for some reason. Still not convinced AI is playing fair.

So, I have seen this on occasion. All of a sudden, the NPC would end a turn with a massive bump in prestige. I, too, would wonder where the 8-10 prestige would come from as I sifted through their cooldown pile and could only account for 3-4 prestige through what they played, including the patron. Its only early in the game, around rounds 3-4 and again in rounds 5-6. Its got to be a glitch.
It also happens with the expert NPCs, so its not just a novice thing.
