cp perks not working in dungeons?

so i was in eden hollow 2 and this is the second time i noticed it that my cp perk didnt upgrade the blue item in the advanced chest to a purple item. Surely all cp perks should work in all dungeons?

It's not how that works.

It just upgrades the quality of the chest as far as i know. You can not see it in the text though. Simple chest will always appear as simple.

when i open chests outside of this dungeon the advanced chest gives me a purple item because of cp perk

Your Treasure Hunter green CP star affects only Overland (zone, delves, public dungeons, dolmens) Treasure Chests

When you encounter 4-man group dungeons or trials - the best you get from Treasure Chests in said instances are blue gear if you are on normal difficulty, and purple if you are on veteran. So group dungeons have another rules, unaffected by the green CP "Treasure Hunter" star

edit: for clarification: you can not get purple set item from 4-man Treasure Chest of the Master Difficulty (of from Advanced Difficulty if your CP star is slotted) if you have entered it on Normal difficulty, simply because purple items are not there in this mode. Items quality in drop tables in Group Dungeons or Trials is dictated by Normal/Veteran selection upon entering.

That is, using the Treasure Hunter star does not affect the drops from chests in dungeons and trials at all?
Does the star affect the chance and number of items dropped?
Is there any official confirmation of this?

The perk changes the loot table of the treasure chest. And the loot tables for chests on dungeons include blue set pieces for normal, and purple set pieces for veteran. So, the perk will give you a better loot table, but it will not make set pieces drop at a higher quality.
