Blackrose 2H Weapon Bug

Radial Uppercut is unable to critical strike. Even when being forced too with mech acuity or cloak. This is literally the only item in the game that is left that is unable to crit. This massive drawback leaves it in a unusable state in both PvE and PvE. I was trying to make a cool build around it and realized it never crit making it not worth it. Its only doing 45% of base damage. If you critical strike a target the inflicted damage to surrounding targets only 45% of the base damage. Not sure if this is intended but figured I'd make everyone aware.

This is literally the only item in the game that is left that is unable to crit.

There are several item sets that intentionally cannot crit in this game, including the most popular parse set and the most powerful trash/add set. Relequen, Azure, and Zaan are all incapable of it, to name just three.

I’m curious to know how this set is intended to work. I wonder if it’s passing on 45% of the damage done, and that’s being lowered by the targets’ armor and other mitigation, like how Tri Focus works. In that case critting on the splash damage might be considered double dipping.

I’ll try to have a look at the numbers today.

Why it even exists when we have master 2h which is better aoe-wise

Thank you for correction. I dont have much experience with PvE sets. But in the case of double dipping I think the better change than allowing it to crit would be make it so it does 100% of base damage. So it would perform like steel tornado.

It only exist as a cool idea. It has no practical application in its current state.

They should revert this to its original iteration. Hitting one additional target for 100% damage instead of two for 50% was a far more interesting and usable effect. I used to run this on dswing warden when it was full damage, and it allowed for some really unique bursts. At half damage it hardly tickles the additional targets before they're instantly healed up from HOTs.

Does it actually have a limit? It says all enemies, but some skills/sets respect a hidden AoE cap of 6 while others don’t. Even if you’re in a 2v1, it seems to be balanced for hitting more than just two enemies. And if that’s not how it’s being used, perhaps it does need to be revised.

Hitting three targets with 3126 pen and 70% crit damage:

Critted with Uppercut on the central target, a Goliath dummy, for 13517.
Hit a Target Skeleton, Humanoid for 4248.
    Hit the Precursor for 5355.

    13517 * 45% = 6082.65 --> 6082 will be done as splash damage.

The Target Skeleton, Humanoid has 18,200 armor. With my 3126 pen, it has 15,074 armor left. That's out of 50,000, so this dummy is mitigating 30.15% of my damage. 6082 (representing 45% of the damage I did to the primary target with Uppercut) less 30.15% = 4248.

    The Precursor has 9,100 armor. With my 3126 pen, it has 5,974 armor left. 5,974/50,000 = 11.95% mitigation. 6082 (45% of Uppercut's damage) less the 11.95% mitigation = 5355.

Radial Uppercut is passing on crit damage properly. To make it eligible to crit would be double dipping in this case.

It might need to be rebalanced, but it seems to be working as described.

For the cap: I just hit 26 enemies with one cast of the base morph of Uppercut, so I think it's safe to say Radial Uppercut has no AoE cap.
