endless archive pets

So I rarely play a pet build but I took a sorc running one pet into endless archive and I have to say it was not fun since at later arcs the aoe do a lot of damage and as sorc pet have 16k HP and zero brains they die every 1min. I would like to see the pets from sorc immune to AOE in PVE "Only" or at least get a HP buff I mean 16k HP is nothing and I think that they only have 18200 res, which also makes them unfun to play in endless archive. If you wanted to play as a tank sorc and use your pet as your heal no hope as all you will see is it dying or you spending all you mag/time healing it.

Or the pet version can add HP/res to the pet so it is useable??

you can use proc pets which are immune to dmg: maw of infernal, mad tinkerer, morkuldin, and a few others

the twilight matriarch is ok, because it is a ranged pet so it generally stays out of the way of the aoes unless a boss mechanic is targeting it

zha'jassa the forgotten is up there on the list of pet killer bosses because the curse applies to pets and they dont know to hide behind the pillar (if they are not bugged)

Pets should follow the same rules in Endless Archives as in dungeons, arenas, and trials.

Regarding companions, while some improvements to AI and tactical options would be great in general, they should at least get buffs as the stages and arcs progress, not necessarily on the same level as verses and visions but incremental buffs or something.

I am not trying to do a pet build nor do I use pets just wanted to give it a go for something new. I am just saying how it is the Unstable Familiar is not useable as it is just dead every few minutes sadly I don't think [snip] will change it and it will stay un useable

a pet sorc is usually useable for at least arc 1 and 2, but by arc 3-4 is where the pets, especially the melee pets, will just keep getting nuked by all sorts of aoes/boss mechanics

    companions have the same problem

it would be nice if the pets functioned like they did in most other areas of the game, or at least made some of them immune to the mechanics without being forced to run proc sets with unkillable pets

The patch notes today mention a reduction in damage for pets in EA.

But, not sure if that reduction is to fit pets with their normal dungeon/arena invincibility, or just less damage taken.

They mentioned companions in the same adjustment, so I am guessing it is likely just a damage reduction rather than elimination. But it will be interesting to see if it makes them more viable in the content.

yeah i saw that, and that companions get a copy of all of your visions (though many of them wouldnt actually buff a companion much or at all, it would be nice if they had scorching support or crystalline support)

I could see the DOT duration increase visions being fairly useful for companions. You could counter sturdier armor instead of quickened, to get longer dots on cooldown. But honestly, a 6% increase in duration is almost meaningless for most dots. So unless you could stack a lot of this, it won't do much.

The AOE slow frost one, and the ground fire dot would be useful though. Double chance at proccing at least.

if you have the improved potency on visions, the single target dot extension is +12% per stack, for something like their poison arrow, thats still a good bit of improvement and might be pretty decent uptime even without quickened

That's right. I was confusing the % for the duration increase with the duration for crit damage.

I think this patch is useless for pets. I met Lady Thorn (BOSS from Castle Thorn) in arc 1, and the pet still melted instantly in AOE.

It is possible to heal the Unstable Clannfear/Volatile Familiar If you're okay with a companion and green circles. Azandar's Zone of Recuperation does affect pets, with a two-hand weapon it heals 1450 per circle every 2 seconds. Preferably you want him with a melee weapon so your pets will be close together to receive that healing. If that becomes his sole purpose, it's possible to get him to push out 6000 healing every tick.

Did an EA run today with my Isobel wearing all purple Vigorous armor (with Provoke, Solar Ward, Blessed Sacrament, Beam of Reproach, Holy Ground) and she still died to Tho'at in Arc 1, and then to the first Marauder I faced in Arc 2. What is the point of having pets or companions at all in content where they can't survive when they are most useful. What an absolute joke.

I have done multiple runs with Bastian and sometimes with pets, neither has died on the first arc Tho'at fight, infact Bastian's health bar doesn't drop at all.

Both he and my pets did die immediately on my one run in with Lady Thorn.

So far no deaths on the first Marauder encounter either and Bastian and pets survived the second Tho'at fight too, although the volatile familiar did die a couple of times.

Bastian is using a purple sword and shield, the gold quickened ring and the rest is blue, the first Tho'at fight was so easy I was actually shocked, the boss did not move an inch, I could basically do whatever I liked Bastian had him covered!!

The second there are AOEs on the ground, I just assume that my pets or companion are going to die, and that's pretty much what happens. Glad that your experience is different, but this is 100% of the time for me, so I don't bother using either at this point.

I just finished a run with Isobel today. She was in all starter gear (white everywhere except no shoulders, cause I'm lazy), but she was in a tank spec and reached level 20 during the run.

Isobel easily sailed through arc 4 and only died a couple times. One was to Lady Thorn because her AI doesn't keep her in the safety circle, and the other to Yolnahkriin because I had to heavy attack the adds in the middle to get resources back and that just sent her into the danger ring. She might have died to arc 4 Lady Belain, but I don't remember for sure.

Otherwise, she was almost unkillable. She tanked every phase of arc 4 Tho'at with barely a scratch on her, and the marauders were almost nothing.

I still had a couple threads left, but decided to end it at 5-1-1 because I'd been at it for over 2 hours.

Are you on PC or console? I tried again and my Isobel is still getting folded in Tho'at fights.

That's pretty disappointing, because it feels like companions and pets are still pretty much a liability. That's including a level 20 companion in all purple vigorous heavy armor too!

since the pet patch on PC, its actually pretty rare to see the companions or pets die

against tho'at isobel would only be taking dmg ticks of between 85 and 200 dmg per tick, which she could easily outheal on her own

she even tanked arc 2 and arc 3 marauders with no problems (one of which was gothmau)

only a few bosses will still kill her with certain mechanics (yolnakriin, lady thorn, any other boss with knockback if she gets too close to the edge, possibly some others as i havent tested every boss against the companion yet)
