Glyphic Secrets Music Box - Let's Never Do This Again

So, primarily a solo player is how I prefer to play this game. I belong to guilds but am not terribly active in them, except to sell my wares. I collect the music boxes in the game and have to say, I'm very frustrated when the game forces you to group with others for the sake of obtaining a lead for an item, such as this music box. If that is not bad enough, the drop rate for the lead seems incredibly low. I've run this thing now, easily, 10 times (maybe more) and it WILL NOT drop! Bastion Nymic is the worst quest to tie this lead to in that it's like having to run two difficult level dungeon quests. You have to get the ichors (1 quest) and then enter a very difficult time-intensive dungeon to complete. All for a chance at the lead. The whole process is easily 30 minutes each time. I'd rather do other things in the game than grind and gamble at the chance of getting a lead for something. I'm still trying for the lead but the whole experience has really soured me on the game and the decision made here by the devs.

Making people have to run entire dungeons or other group content over and over again hoping for a lead at the far end of it is ridiculous. The leads from dungeon bosses, Nymic et al, don't drop nearly as often as they should.

Also, requiring an item that needs ten pieces to be completed three times before it becomes available on the achievement furnisher is just as ridiculous.

I am so tired of Wayrest Sewers for the same reason. Blessings of Stone music box lead hidden within the final boss with a CHANCE to drop. I have one music box finally, but still have to farm up TWO more before I can buy them with gold from the achievement furnishing vendor. Ugh.

As I have probably mentioned many times because it became the bane of my life.....

The safebox lead for that first Blessings of Stone music box took over a year to drop for me, I must've opened many 1000's of safeboxes. I often spent hours in Dhalmora crafting area running circles, opening every damn box!! Btw that was where it finally dropped for me.

I still haven't completed the codex for the Moons Blessed Pool.... third lead will not drop, tried the delves, the harbour basically everywhere, many times!

Also the Prismatic Sunbird Feather, still need a third lead on that too and these are just a couple that I've tried for so often, if I was to keep track I'm sure there are many, many more.

However as this game should be relaxing and supposedly fun I have had to make the decision to walk away from completing Codex entries, which is sad but in my case, entirely necessary!! ☹

When leads are locked like this under obnoxious circumstances with such a slight drop rate, I just don't do it at all. I game for pleasure and relaxation, NOT to torture myself. I rarely enjoy group content and mostly am a Solo player. Since forced grouping is occurring more and more, I am finding I am playing ESO less and less. The last chapter wasn't a bad one, but with leads tied up once again, furniture craft plans having an impossible drop rate and rewards for anything so slim... I didn't enjoy everything to the fullest and will not be buying the next chapter when it first comes out like I have done for years.

I'm sorry you chose music boxes as your collection hobby, that's one of the worst ones in terms of RNG and locking things behind niche content. That's why I don't try to treat antiquities as a collection game, I know I'll eventually run into that.

Same here, I just casually pick up antiquity leads wherever they happen to drop, I don't set out to get them in order to complete a set. Grinding content is not for me.

Me too. I understand for mythic items to be in pieces all over the Tamriel, but I feel the pain about having nice usable furniture being dissected into 10 items. Just seeing you got 1 out of 10 makes you want to quit findin'.

Music boxes have always exclusively been available through the Crown Store with few exceptions. It took me two years to get them all! Now this. Blessings of Stone was a pain in the arse to get everything needed to complete. No sooner did I finally complete that then they locked Nymic behind more grindy content. And tied a piece of it to the in-game card game even. It's a disturbing trend I hope they DO NOT continue!

Fully agree with you. Bastion Nymic is probably the least-enjoyable content they've put out in the past few years.

You can easily solo a bastion nymic though, I do it on my necromancer, which is one of the worst classes you can play right now. Bring a companion also if you feel it's too difficult. I was able to keep my healer Ember alive an entire run, including the boss fight. No need to group with other players.

Now for the waste of time, I agree, the drop rate shouldn't be that low for going through all of that content. When I was getting my death dealer's fete lead, I had to SOLO dragonstar arena 28 times before it dropped..

I kinda like BN, I don't like standing around waiting for someone on zone chat to respond. I play week night late and the zone is often very dead.

I like ToT and if possible would farm that lead for others if I could it trade it for someone doing BN for me...

Actually making leads tradable would help with a lot of lead pain...

I don't mind grouping for things but BNs are tedious as heck imo. Stick with 'public' world events like dolmens and vents please.

I agree the dungeon leads can be the worst if RNG isn't playing along, cause dungeons are not a quick time investment. I ran Mazzatun at least 25 times before I got the Kilt lead. And I still don't have Pearls of Ehlnofey despite running Crypt II so many times I have a full stickerbook.

If you're having trouble getting a lead to drop, try using some of your alts to see if it drops for them. I've seen others say that this can help, and while I don't try to farm leads, I have definitely noticed that when I play on one of my alts they seem to have leads drop left and right for them even though I'm not even trying to find any.

Also make sure you haven’t acquired too many leads. I wondered why I was no longer getting leads from EA and then realized I’d let leads from other zones pile up. I dug up a few and got another lead from EA next run.
