was just now in dread cellar and most controlls stopped working

all my skills were greyed out and i couldnt bar swap. pc eu gamepad ui. i could walk and jump and pickup items but not use any skills. i could pull up the menu. it was weird. out of dungeon all skills returned. happened just a few moments ago.

I was doing the HM the other night with a friend and the boss became completely invisible to them for about a minute of the fight.

Definitely some weird performance in there.

i remember this dungeon had a glitch for the longest time you couldnt talk to the npcs to complete the quest. had to log out and back in to talk to them. this dungeon gives them lots of trouble.

Controller has had a bug like this for a while now. I usually have to restart the game to get it working again.

I'm on PS5 - and haven't had any controller or bar issues that /reloadui wasn't able to fix.

I have a whole folder of "gamesmaster' responses to this bugged quest which are all just automated computer replies that say 'tough luck', followed by more human replies that say "tough luck". I've never got any actual resolution.

Interestingly, there is one splash screen that advises that "real game masters will have the ouroboris symbol next to their name".

HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN A REAL GAMESMASTER?

i had tried a reloadi and it was of no effect. only leaving that dungeon restored my controls. maybe i should have port out and back in?

first i've run into it. played over 5 years oon and off on multiple pc accounts.

Reloading the UI doesn't fix it. I am also on PC so it may also be some sort of interaction with the driver for all I know.

I have. One time. It was in Eastmarch at the wayshrine near the event building. Was quite surprised tbh. That was at least 3 years ago.

I have, once in 2014 in Rivenspire standing next to the stable but not since then.

no just that once so far. and admittedly i am playing on a ps4 type controller from oubang game gamepad@ioubang.com that i bought from amazon and so i use steam to make it compatible with eso. there's a lot of variables there and i can't say that eso is the problem because my controller outside of steam isn't compatible. i dont get dread cellar a lot but i could try to queue for it some on sunday and see if it continues to be a problem. also it's a bluetooth controller and could be subject to radio interference. i have 10 cats so plating with wired isnt ideal either but i do have a wired ms controller i'll try using that and see if i can reproduce the error. i'll try again sunday.

so just to clarify which issue you mean... i understand you mean the error with the skills being greyed out. not the error with the npcs not speaking to you when doing the quest. the one with npcs not speaking to me has happened with multiple toons and i had to lof ouut of the game and return to complete the quest but i assume that one has been resolved? the on with the skills on the skill bar on screen greying out is a new one for sure.

well sadly my cat expenses this month cut into my eso plus subscription, so as i have only the base game with summerset and firesong, i cant go back into the dread cellar to try and see if it wigs out on my controller again. I had bought a new one of the same model to test and see if it's just one controller or both thats at issue but january is the earliest i can try again.

This has happened to me (PS5 NA) but not in a while. Closing the game and restarting has always worked as a fix. For me it almost seems like the connection desyncs. Nothing else but EOS is affected though.

yes and it seems my controller is ps4 clone with the touchpad. part of the issue seems resolved with the trigger as there are two buttons underneath m1 and m2 and so i mapped the right trigger to the m2 button and even the trigger works as intended now. also m2 works as trigger but i dont need it now it seems. crazy. so if it's a repeatable across ps controllers i wonder what it means? i'm also on pc linux playing through steam and also epic playing through lutris so i got extra layers of potential problems to look at and consider if something is wonky.

Just happened to me, also in Dread Cellar.
All skills were greyed out, neither light nor heavy attacks were working. I could still loot or open doors and talk to NPCs.
Of course, once I left the dungeon the controls went back to normal. I tried /reloadui (didn't work) and pluggin/unpluggin mouse/keyboard (also didn't work).

I'm running with a combination of Razer Nostromo and Naga.

Also, thanks again to the group that pulled me through
