Endless Archive Portal To Unknown Difficulty

Is the difficulty of Portals to the Unknown tied to Arc? Or tied to how many times you have seen that particular portal on your run? Like if I get Watcher on Arc 1 and Goat on Arc 2, will the Watcher be Level 1 difficulty and Goat will be Level 2 difficulty? Or will they both be Level 1 difficulty because both are being encountered for first time on run?

Its based on how many times you were able to complete it ever, with max level being at the 4th completion I believe. Then its on level 5 unless you run with someone who hasn’t done it as much.

Oh wow. Interesting. I saw there are a bunch of items you can buy from vendor that require you to do the different portals on all 5 difficulties. I was thinking that would require you to get to Arc 5 and I have never gotten past Arc 3 (even Arc 2 is like 50/50 I'll clear it). Of course, if I can barely get to Arc 3, I may not be able to do these portals on max difficulty. But at least I should get opportunity eventually just from slogging my way through Arc 1 and Arc 2 over and over.

yeah you can get all of the difficulties of the bonus portals on any arc, as its tied more to your achievement

if you run with another player, you get the lowest difficulty completed between the 2 players as it seems to prioritize bonus activities based on if a player has not completed those achievements yet

for example if your running 2 player and you get the watcher one because the other player needs only that one to clear all difficulties, then you will only get the watcher one until the other player clears the last difficulty

Does this apply solo, too? I have finished all 5 difficulty levels of Aramril because that is just a VMA-style boss fight. I am used to stuff like that. But I stink at most of the rest. Will I not see Aramril again until I have cleared all difficulties of the other portals?

i believe yes, you will not see that one again until you have finished clearing difficulties of the other portals

i dont mind the duel fight, its one of the least annoying bonus portals to me lol, she just annoys me with her constant shielding

Just to clarify, this is definitely account based isn't it? If I'm 4/5 on one character and then jump on a character im yet to do the side quest on, I will get difficulty 5 even though I haven't faced it yet on that character because I'm already at 4/5 from another character?

It peeves me that I need to alter my build for a side game. I thinking of the switches puzzle in particular.

The difficulty of the side games does ramp up quite quickly.

pretty sure it is account since its based on the achievement (which is account wide)

i find that one so annoying solo i literally just skip it lol, in a 2 person group i dont mind it though
