Changes in weighting for visions

From multiple runs and talking to a few people, it seems like Focused Efforts and Attuned Enchantments are much rarer now. Please tell me you did not adjust these on what is already a slog. I am hoping that it is just anecdotal observation from by myself and several other players.

It is bad enough that there is no way of saving your progress to continue the following day, without making things slower still.

I think it's just RNG. I have only just finished the visions achievement and all I needed was Lasting Harm which didn't come up at all for an insanely long time.

    I tend to agree.

I have run EA almost every day since release. I think something changed.

In my runs this week I very, very rarely got the good verses like exsanguinate. It has been mostly garbage ones like the plus damage to world skills and the like.

I thought it was just bad RNG but I am really wondering if they weighted the RNG against the really powerful ones. I wish I had been taking down data, but when you do something every day you get a feel for when it changes, and I really think something changed.

The rng isn't really very random. I noticed that the first time thru on each new tune I seem to get easier bosses and better verses/visons. This verses my main where 6 out of the last 8 runs I've had Rahhat and Lady Thorn both. Sixty-eight bosses, hard to believe that is entirely random.

I made an entire warden build surrounding the vision focused efforts. It's an amazing build on its own but paired with that vision is SUPPOSED to be insane damage. I wouldent know I've never even gotten focused efforts ONE TIME in like 5 runs now. I don't even know if my build works yet cause I haven't even gotten to try the vision out.

    Totally RNG.

I ignored the pet verses and visions as my toon running EA didn't have pets. Was getting it constantly it seemed.

Then I realised a pet one was the only one missing for an achievement. As soon as I realised that I didn't see one for days.

I really wish they would swap out the 'experience' and 'more gold' buffs. At least change 'gold' to 'archive coins' and make it semi useful.

The amount of times I have been offered pet buffs on my arcanist is stupid. It would be nice if it were just not offered on non-pet classes.

I agree that weighted rng would be a good thing.

My Oakensorc keeps getting stamina and light attack based visions. Completely worthless.

EDIT: might be verses instead of visions, the whole EA terminology is not really explained well.

I have been getting the increase “world skills” verse about 50% of the time. Didn’t use to be that often. They seem to have decreased exsanguination, and the increase “class skills” verses, if they have, in fact, made any changes. Might just be rng, but seems a little fishy.

What are “World Skills”? I asked my duo partner and her explanation of it didn’t help me at all. I think she said scrying and something else, how does that help me in EA???

World Skills would be any under the "World" Category in your skill screen, everyone has the "Soul Magic" line there, but for those with Vampire and Werewolf skill lines unlocked and leveled, this will affect those skills as well.

    Vampire, Werewolf, Soul Magic.

Soul Trap is not a bad sticky DOT and Soul Assault is kind of Jesus Beam-ish. If you add them to bar just for next Stage, they become quite strong.

Thanks for the responses. I don’t do werewolf or vampire or use soul magic so this never occurred to me.

Can ZOS confirm if there is weighted the RNG against the good visions/verses? I hope not because it makes EA LESS FUN.

I am seeing the same bad verses/visions over and over again since last week. Flame Aura/Exsanguinate are like once a RUN now, and I get to Arc 4 consistently. When EA was first released I got it once an arc and I could always count on these two verses to help clear a round or boss.

I also noticed that there seems to be an RNG "seed" when you do a run. I often get the same offensive/defensive/utility verses round after round. Like a matching set. Worldliness/Garbage Defensive Verse/Tomeshell is a lineup I see often, usually many times in the same run.

Can we actually have weight to get the good ones more? EA is supposed to be a power fantasy, just let us have fun.

im fairly confident the visions are weighted, to some extent

the supplemental thread vision for example is extremely rare, ive only seen this a handful of times

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

I'm 86% sure the Supplemental Thread only pops when you have 1 thread left, it's the only time I've ever seen it.

I have a feeling they are noticing that we are building around Focused Efforts and Attuned Enchantments because they are the most powerful, and will probably nerf them, but I can't confirm anything on RNG weighting. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't. I actually think they should just leave them and buff some of the less desirable ones to be more desirable and increase the number of things we can build around. Since the content is "Endless" it shouldn't matter than I can do eye-watering DPS. Eventually the monsters will be buffed enough that the DPS will equalized to the content.

I do feel like they should either make pets viable (i.e. not take AoE damage) in EA, or get rid of the one that buffs pets. Right now they die too often to be used. Right now both pets and companions will just stand in ground AoE and die, and there is a lot of ground AoE. Maybe they could also make it also reduce the damage pets take, and make it also apply to companions?

In my opinion, the experience and gold buff visions need to go. Nobody uses those that I know of, and I can't imagine that someone who is doing an EA run is doing it for experience or gold.

I also would like it if they would change the verses that require something to die to proc. In trash rounds they can sometimes be ok, but more often than not it feels like I get them on a boss round and they provide no benefit to me. It would be nice if it would proc on some type of damage rather than a death. They already have a cool down so it shouldn't be an issue from a balance perspective.

    Playing since beta...

I've taken the XP buff a bunch of times, I do a lot of quick runs for the daily on multiple characters, so I just drag a companion and equip skills to level them up so the XP boost is useful for that. It's never for runs where I'm purely solo, but there is a place for those buffs.

I believe that the RNG is weighted. That and RNG for what bosses show up. It's how ZOS can toy with the difficulty behind the scenes to see how players handle it.

I'm convinced that for the first time thru arc 1 on a new toon the difficulty is reduced by making the verses better and limited the difficulty of the bosses. After that it goes back to normal, sort of a bait and switch to get players interested in EA.

Oh, this explains why I never saw this, because mostly I playe arc 1 and sometimes 2, where I die really rarely... So for achievment I need to farm EA on 1 life left, great...

I might have purposely killed myself twice when doing arc 1 dailies to try to get the supplemental thread vision to show up. It did eventually, but it took a while.

That's how I found out that falling off the platform at a boss when not in combat doesn't take a thread. :D

My experience over the past couple of days is that I constantly get Stamina/Martial Damage Visions when running a Magicka character. I just finished a run where I died on the final Tho'at fight of Arc 4, and of the 19 Visions that I had active, only 4 of them were specific to a Magicka build. That kind of RNG in regards to Visions will be one of the top reasons I don't bother running EA once I complete the achievements.

I think the RNG is weighted to give you the visions/verses you don't have for the achievement.

For example, and I am not exaggerating, I saw the pet damage vision often the first week. I have seen it ONCE since I clicked it for the achievement. And I run EA just about every day. Not that I want it - good riddance.

As mentioned in another thread, we really need rerolls and banishes like all other games of the EA genre.

I have all of the achievements in EA aside from the collectible ones, and I can say with a high degree of certainty that any run that I do that goes to at least Arc 4 will give me the Pet Vision at least twice. Pets are completely useless after the second Arc unless you want to spend half of your time re-summoning them. There really should be some sort of filter that doesn't give you that Vision unless you have pets active. While we're at it, is ANYONE actually picking the XP or Gold Visions???

I did a sickening number of runs last night for science purposes and one long run for fun and I can say it's all RNG, there's no rhyme or reason for any of this. Keep in mind, I don't run any of the Focused Effort builds but one run, no FE in 2 Arcs, others, 2 in Arc 1. On the long one? 4 FE by Arc 3.

As much as we want to find a hidden trick to why we're not seeing our desired vision/verse, it's just a big pool, but one thing to keep in mind, always take the Crystal/Ferocious/Fiery visions if they're a good option, not just because you'll use them but because then they'll be out of the pool.

This is a very good point, and something that I'll have to try for deeper duo runs.
