What's the Deal with the Big Crystal in EA Theater of War part 4?

In Endless Archive, 4th iteration (i.e. when you've got 3/5 towards the achievement), there's a big crystal behind Aramil. Shortly through the fight, it activates, and kills me in basically 2 seconds before I can react.

There's precious little showing up when I google it, just Alcast saying that you need to destroy it with a DPS check without explaining why or how.

2 seconds seems way too little time to react. There does seem to be a big AoE plopped down beneath me, but I was stunned at the same time, and before I could break free and roll out, boom dead. This has happened to me twice now.

What's going on here, what am I missing?

We haven't had a lot of trouble with it, but we are playing defensively, with 1 tank providing major resolve, healing, and health bonuses, in addition to keeping everything taunted and interrupted. Are you solo or duo?

Solo with comp. I know duo is best for things, but I'm most easily able to get a solo run going. I do have Major Resolve from Oakensoul though.

What is the mechanic with that crystal though?

So it looks like I need to watch her after the crystal spawns in order to interrupt her channel, then burn the crystal.

She will activate a crystal during the fight, the crystal will start pulsing damage with more intensity so you need to kill it fast. Shortly after she activates the crystal, she will do her channeling attack so you need to bash that as well. Basically save your ult for the crystal and dps it down as soon as it activates, but keep an eye on the boss to interrupt her channel (If you don't have a ranged interrupt or if she's too far from the crystal, and you don't have a gap closer, what I do is wait until she channels so I can bash her before going to dps the crystal). It definitely takes more than two seconds till the damage from the crystal ramps up, but it does come pretty fast, so throw everything you have at it.

Aha, I have been on "run around defuff/bash everything" duty while my DD is focusing the crystals.

I would definitely recommend a ranged interrupt.
