Necromancer class set stealth nerf in latest patch

So I just noticed this a couple days ago when I looked at the set after downloading the latest incremental patch. Nothing was listed in the patch notes, but the nobility in decay set is completely useless now. The tooltip was changed to completely remove any mention of "beautiful corpse" and now you only get the unique mitigation/healing OR the self corpse consumer, not both like how it hit live. The tooltip numbers are also changed.

This is a HUGE nerf, and NOT ok. I spent the first week farming the entire stickerbook because I was happy necromancer finally had something nice and didn't even get a chance to use it. This class is already suffering as is.

Here's the tooltip of the set when it hit live

Casting a Bone Tyrant ability while in combat grants you Beautiful Corpse and Death's Favor for 16 seconds. Death's Favor increases your Healing Taken and reduces Damage Taken by up to 12% based on your missing Health. This can occur once every 20 seconds, and is reduced by 2 seconds for each slotted Bone Tyrant ability. Casting a corpse consumer ability consumes Beautiful Corpse, treating you as a corpse.

And after the latest patch a few days ago

I was actually playing with this set yesterday and the loss of Beautiful Corpse was noticeable, but what I noticed more than anything was there's a hidden cooldown for Death's Favour. I slotted full Bone Tyrant abilities and went to go fight the Dreugh King in Stormhaven and despite spamming scythe Death's Favour never refreshed to 16 and when it ran out there was a small window when it never came back up.

Came shortly after I provided feedback in another post about how even positive shadow/stealth changes are frustrating. Shadow/stealth nerfs are even more frustrating.

i think the cooldown is still 20 sec, -2 sec for each bone tyrant ability (the display is bugged and says 0 cooldown)

if you had 5 abilities slotted (6 if it counts the ulti too), that would be at most -12 seconds of a 20 sec cooldown (bring it to a minimum of 8 sec cooldown)

since the necromancer is built around corpse consumption, you would have to avoid a lot of good skills to actively not consume the self-corpse to maintain the other bonus

And this right here is the problem. This change actively discourages the use of your class abilities. Aren't class sets supposed to do the exact opposite of that?

The set was by no means overperforming as in general, damage mitigation is not something Necro really struggled with in the first place.

The devs nerfing it to this caliber goes to show how out of touch they are with the players' feedback, as over the past year I can count on one hand the number of changes that were actually explicitly asked for.

There is a serious lack of consideration before changes are applied, and it is seriously killing this game.

This thread had me curious, so I hopped on my Necro, and the cooldown is there for Death's Favour, AND I slotted 5 Bone Tyrant skills and Unnerving Boneyard as my corpse consumer for this test and at no point did casting boneyard on myself and with no other corpses near by consume Death's Favour.

Edit: Further testing: using the Animate Blastbones Ult on myself with Death's Favour DID create a blastbones, but did not end Death's Favour.

To be honest all of the sets they released with EA are pretty lousy. They are too hesitant to release something actually strong and fun that could shake up the meta a little. You see how the forum QQ'd over the DK set and it got nerfed until it's just another meh set.

Im so confused, so is it nerfed? Sorry, Im a bit behind being a necro main I left the game since necro is currently trash but wanted to come back because the new class set looked really fun.

Worth coming back? Or is the set completely useless now?

I can't speak on a nerf because I didn't get the stickerbook done/get the 5 pieces to properly test it until after this most recent patch, but it's functioning like the OG U40 release set tooltip stated it would. The tooltip change looks like an attempt to clean up a wordy tooltip but didn't capture the functionality correctly. My only real complaint about the set is the hidden cooldown and the lack of ability to properly refresh Death's Favour after it runs out.

In all honesty the shift to consuming Death's Favour might actually be better if upon consuming it, you could instantly get the buff back.

Thank you for your response, much appreciated. Stealth nerfs/re-wording with no dev feedback is so bizarre especially with these brand new class sets.

@ZOS_Kevin can we please get some clarification?

That's a big RIP if its functionality got changed like that. The necro set looked like one of the more interesting ones.

As a sorc (whos class set got a 24% nerf disguised as a "fix" during the PTS), all I can say is you have my condolences and welcome to the club.

This functionality seems to exist in the tooltip only - just tested it in game and you still keep "Death's Favor" buff after consuming "Beautiful Corpse" (which you still get after using a Bone Tyrant ability).

That said, this worries me as it might indicate an upcoming, unnecessary nerf to the set that just didn't actually make its way to Live server (yet).

Yeah I don’t know what the point was in introducing new class specific sets if you’re not going to make them better than existing sets that can be used on all classes.

From what I can tell, there is no stealth change to the set. It seems to apply beautiful corpse and death's favor as before. I made a few pieces of the set tonight and did some testing.

    nn1i2bft4q7s.png

In this log, casting hungry scythe applied both beautiful corpse and death's favor. I cast avid boneyard, and at the same time beautiful corpse ended. I double-checked the damage ticks, and they were definitely higher with beautiful corpse than when I didn't have it. Death's favor then ended later for a total duration of 16 seconds.

There was no stealth nerf. They just can't fit the full description on the tooltip in game. The description on the tooltip in the game makes no sense.

I tested the set in PvP and found it super tanky
4 GOs, and General, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP over the last 8 years

Well the set already wasn't like how it mentioned in the patch notes. The U40 patch notes said this for the 5p bonus:
"Casting a Bone Tyrant ability while in combat grants you Beautiful Corpse for 16 seconds, reducing your damage by 5% and increasing your Armor by 2974, and grants up to 12% Healing Taken and reduces your damage taken by up to 12%, both of which are based on your missing Health. This can proc once every 20 seconds and is reduced by 2 seconds for each slotted Bone Tyrant ability. Casting a corpse consumer ability consumes Beautiful Corpse, treating you as a corpse."
At this point who knows what the set is actually supposed to do...

No it wasn't. The original PTS gave the named minor protection and minor resolve buffs.

Exactly this. People are saying it currently functions the same, but that still doesn't explain why the tooltip description was changed, any mention of the other buff, "beautiful corpse" removed, and the way it's described, IS a nerf no matter how you look at it if using a corpse consuming ability takes away the healing/mitigation buff (death's favor). And the tooltip numbers are still bugged regardless and show 0 now.

So, like you, I'm wondering if this indicates an upcoming nerf and they just accidentally released it with the incremental patch? And for people saying they couldn't fit the old description, they did fit it just fine, and it was like that for almost half a month in-game.

We really need communication and clarification from one of the devs @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno

The tooltip's wording is wonky right now, but the set's functionality appears intact. The beautiful corpse effect is still in place and using it does not remove death's favor. I've tested it myself just today.

Tested as well and your right it doesn't remove death's favor, but is it actually doing anything? Where is the healing/mitigation part of the set? is it hidden?
