Why is it a Valenwood Squirrel? Why would it be in those regions? How did it get there? Is this to tease future content? If yes, would this even be the appropriate place to do that?

So many questions. It just doesn't make sense to me...

    maybe it's a tease or
maybe it is just a fitting name for the first squirrel pet.

There's an NPC down by the docks of necrom called Fanweana, accompanied by a graht-oak squirrel. Right next to a silt-strider. If you remain by her side for a while, you can hear her talk to the squirrel about how she plans on getting both of them back home into dominion territory as she continously stares at her map.

Both of them appear out of place and a bit lost and I'd guess that's the joke behind it all. Adding the lost altmer woman as a bit of elaboration perhaps. But at least they got another - And acorns.

Also, why is the squirrel the size of a small dog? It's huge!

I used Blade of Woe on her and was puzzled to find myself in combat, as I had checked beforehand no one else was around. Turns out her squirrel had turned aggressive towards me, but lacking any way to attack, it just stared at me. After a while, it disappeared.

Back to topic, I didn't understand why a squirrel either. I made up a backstory to the pet, according to which it's a prototype battesquirrel, which might explain its size.

yes. I did notice her. never heard the line tho. it's a little too obscure to serve well as a theme/backstory for the pet tho...

I had the same exact situation going! My friend and I cracked up about the whole thing and since I dearly wanted to farm all parts for the squirrel, and did so later on, we kept joking that "The vengeful" was following my character around, waiting for the perfect opportunity to take revenge. Like a constantly failing cartoon villain. No success yet, but we'll see what happens once my wood orc takes the squirrel back with her into its natural habitat lol.

that would make sense. but if that's the case, I don't think it's inappropriate to waste this pet reward on a teaser. no, it should be something that fits to the zone!.
