Because conceding is also disrespectful towards other paying customers' time and effort.

And the penalty is only a couple of minutes, which seems proportional enough to me.

Conceding is admitting defeat. How is that disrespectful?

Maybe that's the case for games that have some amount of honor or prestige. For TOT, no.

That is incorrect. The concede penalty is also given to players who lose their connection to the game or are otherwise kicked out of a TOT match within it's first 10 minutes.

Conceding is not 'disrespectful'. In a perfect world it would be an admission that the other player is better and you see no path to victory. In TOT it's usually bad internet. But you could always pretend it your superior skill.

If people could concede and 'win' somehow then that would be f'd up. But since it's a win for you I fail to understand why you feel like I should be punished...

When I concede, I deserve punishment as well.

It's just an incentive to stop people from running away all the time. Stop crying over a few minutes of time penalty.

I don't think those "penalty" is meant to punish players for conceding by any means.

It's a mechanism to prevent abuse of the system. If there wouldn't be any time penalty one could queue and concede all the time without even the slightest interruption.

Any trolls would obviously be delighted by such a chance.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Let's say that a few people do that and via win rewards a hundred extra iron ore entre the economy. So what?

I'm not talking about rewards, but the choice between being set on a rather short CD on the one hand, or being repeatedly thrown out of a game you wanted to play because your opponents play the conceding-game.

You could look at the times before group finder (for dungeons) got a similar penalty added. Most players trying to use it reported that the group were left by at least one party member at the very beginning, because lots of players "gambled" for an easier dungeon.

Not what I call a satisfactory experience: Waiting in the queue, left alone by other player, requeue, left alone again. Repeat at you leisure.

Yes, that's an interesting thought: If you concede once, nothing happens. If you concede twice within X minutes you get the penalty. Seems resonable to me.

Where some of the issue comes from is that there are some pretty high chance to win combinations that can be purchased within the first couple turns of the game. This issue is becoming worse as the designers change more cards to be great first player pickups and continue to not change overpowered cards. It gets tricky is that even if a player has a super strong early lead, it could take the combination of time for both players 10 minutes just for 40 prestige to be reached.

I've both told opponents and been told by many opponents to "please win as fast as possible" while it's a chore to even get a patron victory because of how Celarus works.

And we STILL have that stupidest concede penalty during CASUAL matches. This is so outright stupid because you simply can switch characters and has ZERO use except of putting off customers.

The bare minimum that the designers could provide is a free concede every 10 minutes.

Also you not only get trolled with that stupid concede penalty you get a double penalty by not getting any loser reward.

Douple penalties are strictly FORBIDDEN in most democratic legal systems. But HERE in ESO you not only are deprived of the white box (which is ok) but ON TOP you get a ban for 10 min to play ToT.

Currently, if someone concedes, then the game makes the take a 10 minute break under the suspicion that they could quit again.

Allowing someone a concede without penalty at least every 10 minutes accomplishes the same goal that the current penalty sets out to accomplish, but is less punishing for players since it isn't very likely that someone would have to concede twice within 10 minutes. That's especially the case since average game times are closer to 9 through 10 minutes.

I don't see how this could help. In both cases you have to wait for 10 min. You understand that it is this enforced waiting time that is an issue?
