We have trashure maps instead of treasure maps

Do you think like me that the name trashure map is much more fitting than the name treasure map considering that there is so much trash inside and so little good and useful stuff nowadays?

It's the hunt, not necessarily the find.

They can't all be good. It would rubbish the fantasy of hoping to find a nice haul when they are so many of them, and also cheapen the items inside that are good.

treasure maps have always had basically the equivalent to at least an advanced chest

thats why some people find them more effort than they are worth and just destroy/give/sell the maps to people who enjoy doing them

I sell them. Mostly someone buys them so I agree someone is enjoying the hunt for treasure.

They're not your thing, so don't chase them - nobody is forcing you to. I've been playing since 2015 and still dig them up when there's not much else to do (although I have got rid of a lot through the years).

Collecting them on new characters can also be used as a reason to go to new places and locate wayshrines, skyshards. lore books, etc.

Those without a motif lead are pretty much not even worth selling because they take up a valuable sales spot (at least in my case: 2 trade, 1 social, 1 raid, 1 PvP guild).

Don't think people with 5 trade guilds would list them either..

I like treasure maps. I even do the ones in Cyrodiil (which requires hanging onto them until DC or AD have the appro territory of course).

I agree, though if we could have a one out of a thousand awesome thing in these treasure chests that would be way more entertaining.

Well, the good thing with treasure maps, is that nobody is forced to them. So problem is non existing? We can just ignore them, from there destroy or sell them?

Personally, I like to go pick them up, just like surveys. That makes me visit areas where I wouldn't return otherwise, and regularly, with good surprises as what I find when wandering a bit around treasure location (but also from time to time with bad ones LOL).

Most base game treasure maps are trash only because Dolmens give basically the same loot and you can run those nonstop. They been getting creative with treasure maps in DLC and chapter zones to annoy the crap out of you. That one in Blackwood happens to be inside a cave while there's an upper area you searching for it The ones that have artificial value only because a lead exclusively comes from them and not regular treasure chests.

I either destroy treasure maps or yell out to zone, first person to say "blah blah" gets them.

I just destroyed 60 treasure maps.They are not worth the time it takes and have nothing worth having.

I usually keep about 5-7 maps on me, for those 'dig/loot X treasure chests' endeavor dailies.
Other than that... eh. Expensive ones get listed, generic ones get trashed.

That would be 11000 gold for me. Not a great deal for some, but I'm saving for new houses.

Treasure chests are often remote, hard to spot and guarded by enemies.

Scrying and fishing on Artaeum is quicker, safer and far more rewarding.

I like them, even if they only offer next to no reward - for times I just need to do "something else".

Mine pile up in bank. When I get a second copy, I go out and dig up both copies, since they don't stack, so I cannot store the second copy. Over time, I get every antiquity lead possible from treasure chests. Works for me ...

You can actually make a good amount of gold from buying these uber cheap maps.

Example I buy a ton of stonefalls map and dig them up and will most likley find alot of red Mountain gear that on ps5eu sell pretty well even with wrong trait.

Lets say i get 5 red Mountain gear from 20 maps that I can sell in trader for 100k on ps5eu but I bought the maps for 100 gold each.

As a player who prioritizes getting as much as they can without having to spend gold on it, I appreciate the maps. Steady flow of mats, small amounts of gold and set items that I can decon or flip on a trader if they belong to a "hot" set.

They were a nice concept when ESO was released, but now they're mostly useless. Unless you care about antiquity leads, which I usually do not.

I enjoy trying to find the locations. As long as the map gives a fair clue of it. (The Blackwood maps are vague as hell.)

gives me a reason to open wayshrines in various zones and possibly a bit of starting gear

I have never once followed one of these to the "treasure". Pointless waste of time and effort.

I guess it could be mildly interesting for some RP or for beginners or the young etc.

there are leads that come from all the base game zone treasure maps too (the 15 alliance zones + starters)

the only base game zones without treasure map leads are craglorn and coldharbour (though they can still drop some of the "get anywhere" leads)

Well, I quite enjoy using them (gasp) and even try to determine the treasure location based on the drawing (gasp again). But, to each their own.
