I’m being told that blue writs will disappear at update 40, and that they won’t. What happened on PC when the update dropped?

All my blue writs were still there, and still at the old number of vouchers.

All of your Blue writs will still be there and they can still be done, as mentioned above blue writs just won't drop anymore after the update.

Purple writs now have similar numbers of vouchers to the old blue writs and for me at least seem to drop quite often. :)

I had 20 blue writs, worth 28 each. They remained after the update.

After the update, i got my first new purple writ. I was worth just one more than all those blue ones This is just stupid they need to make purple worth more than one point more than blue.

The good news, is with the 100% XP boost and using a XP scroll, I had well over 1M xp by doing the blue writs,

Seems to me, with blue going away, doing purple is just a loss of material for just one more voucher.

They went from requiring 30 "grains" - 3 platings, to requiring 4 platings. They take like 85% less materials to make. Why would they be worth the same as before?

They may or may not end up being worth doing in the future... but they are far superior to where they were before the change.

For me I won't be doing purple or gold jewelry crafting writs. They are even less economical to do now than they used to be by the time the supply of tempers stabilizes.

Per voucher costs for old purple and gold jewelry master writs were in the 4,000-5,000 gold per voucher range on PC/NA.

They are now averaging half that.

I did 7 purple and 3 gold old writs last night on PC-EU, unfortunately I didn't take screenshots but even with a couple of Triune in there the voucher gold per voucher average was 293g per voucher.

I know that's a small sample but on my other account I did 25 old purple writs and 4 gold on the day the update hit at that time the gold per voucher for those came out at 349g per voucher and there were only healthy/arcane/robust in those.

I wrote the figures down to try make sure the items I was buying to sell saw me good profit....... oh damn they did! :D

Do the math again in 3 months when purple and gold tempers cost 10-100x what they cost now because people are using them up. In the end purple and gold jewelry writs will be just as uneconomical as they always were.

Yeah, the old ones from before U40 are very much worth it.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Sourcing them is easier with the update.

Should say I play on console where platings are much cheaper, so will probably be different for PC players.

Previously I only did blue writs in the normal traits because of the trait mat costs, and platings weren't really part of the equation. At the same voucher levels I doubt I'll do the purple ones any differently. I'm not sure about gold ones yet but if the drop rates have increased that much I'd imagine I'll only bother to do other traits if I particularly need the vouchers. I buy a lot of master writs and I'd looked forward to guildstores not being bloated with useless JC ones but sadly don't think that'll change much.

Have to say I'm quite disappointed with how the "balance" has been done. Having fragments left on trait mats is ridiculous with platings so easy to get, particularly for the normal 3 traits. I refined a load of platinum on PTS, got enough platings to upgrade an entire set to gold with plenty to spare, and didn't even get one of each trait. For people like me who use 95% of their platings on Master Writs (and crafting will be the same) it's not going to be sustainable
