Why is the daily login reward calendar so terrible?

see title.

- all the potions & poisons are completely worthless.
- all the meals are worthless (can buy 50 food thats better for 600 gold hehe - this is beyond tone deaf as a reward)
- the resin, wax & alloy are practically worthless (obv some use, but they are so inexpensive & rarely used that these rewards are a moot point & a waste of space)
- the repair kits are just insulting! (like giving away penny candies that taste of old tires & motor oil)
- the 5000 gold is outright RUDE (so laughably low that its insulting! - for this to be an actually decent monthly reward you'd need to raise it to 250k MINIMUM. folks are dealing in millions!)
- the 50% xp scrolls, all worthless (get so many scrolls you never need to use, often times 100-150% scrolls that it makes these worthless)
- the tel var stones, the alliance points, endeavor points, are mediocre at best (mostly due to the insignificant amount we get)

so that only leaves:

- anything random that you specifically add 1 of each month, usually a useless emote or a equally useless pet (that rarely if ever is a pet you'd actually want to use!)

- seals of endeavour, which are useful!, however, again ... why are you so stingy / cheap / tightfisted? this is a once a month reward, why don't you make it seem like it & raise the amount to at least 500. Like we get 250 for a WEEKLY reward & yet, we only get 250 for once a MONTH reward as well? make that insanity make sense please lol.

Like if the idea of daily rewards is supposed to be to entice players to login, at least once a day, to collect said reward & thus, maybe stick around & play a while, maybe spend some money with you ... like, you are failing on every level imo. This is nothing in the monthly rewards I would ever stress about missing out on currently. You are enticing us only into ambivalence at best & at worst, flat out disinterest or even resentment.

Why be so stingy & short sighted? this stuff costs you nothing to be magnanimous, but it definitely hurts you to be cheap.

Why not add some bonus rewards in like warframe does, so if you log in for 30,60,90,180,360,720,1000, etc days you get a much larger, more rare reward, give you something to chase

Why not actually give players stuff they might want / find useful? if you're unsure of what those are, why don't you just ask us? I'm sure we'd all love to tell you our thoughts hehe =)

If I may say so, this seems a poorly timed complaint. This month has some of the best rewards we’ve had in a while — a long requested emote, 250 seals (a weekly’s worth!), AND a houseguest!

The gold upgrade materials you mention may not each be worth a lot but they are useful no matter your playing style and are even used in some furnishing plans. The point isn’t to make you wealthy just for logging in, but a nice extra that is fun or useful.

I believe it would hurt to make the rewards too large, especially in tradable materials or currency, as this would devalue what players earn in game. That’s part of why the three rewards this month are especially nice IMHO. I also appreciate that Crown crates have been among the daily rewards several months. Sure, you may not get anything you wanted, but that’s true if you buy them too, and hopefully you’ll get some Gems you can save up for something you do want.

So all in all, I think ZOS has been going in the right direction with the login rewards.

Big holiday months are usually the bare minimum so people who are on vacation away from the game don't feel like they are missing out. I believe that was the reason they gave a few years back when holiday months DID have something huge to collect at the end of them.

I do appreciate things like the endeavors being added to the monthly rewards, and more surprising and rare items like houseguests, but I agree that generally it's EXTREMELY lackluster. And as you pointed out, I've never understood why the rewards don't get progressively better the longer you consecutively login. I would be nice to see a monthly reward lineup that didn't have a single potion or meal and included a truly exciting amount of gold, mats, etc.

I generally refrain from complaining about free stuff.

I would argue that the log in rewards tend to favor newer players since more of the typical items are of value to newer players. On the other hand, endeavors tend to favor experienced players since we can more readily/easily go anywhere/do anything in the game which makes completing endeavors easier/faster. It's all good. :)

If they make: 1 day 250 Endeavors and the other days -100k gold(you pay 100k gold for 29 days), I would still take it.
If there are 250 Endeavors, it's great and the other 29 days don't matter for me.

on PCNA the tempers are not inexpensive at all (dreugh wax are still like something around 40-45k gold each)

I think the login rewards are good. Free stuff is always nice, especially when it's mats and potions, both save me effort on crafting. In the past they've had mounts, emotes, pets, tons of stuff. Now they're adding seals of endeavors, which is helpful for those who might miss a day. Honestly, the only thing they could do better is have a daily reward for the current crate season, in like the first week or so.

Depending your perspective the login rewards can be game changing.

Sure to some of us, they're just stuff to take up space in our bags/banks, but to some players those free tri-stat potions are amazing and saves them time and gold. And 5k gold isn't much to a lot of players, but that's 20 days of your mount training for a new player. Heck, I'm one of the older players here and I still use the free experience scrolls they give me when I feel like grinding up stuff for my companions.

I will agree however that SOME things are questionable like the Soul Gems, I don't think many players out there are hurting for soul gems after level 15.

I, as a long tenured player, still enjoy the free stuff, sure the yellow mats are added to a pile in my craft bag, but I know that one day they're gonna get used... maybe.

Login "rewards" are basically free stuff, so I think they're fine.

Sure, not everything is useful for every player, but all in all it's a good mix.

Besides that I think it's fitting that newer players get more out of them than seasoned players.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Plus, this forum would lose their minds if they "felt forced" to login and get free stuff if it were got to have items instead of small little trinkets.

At the minimum they should be giving for login per month:

    Perfected gold trial gear
50k AP, Telvar, GP and Endeavors
    50 Transmutes
    20 of each gold tempers
    Crown crates
    Radiant Apex Mounts

That feels like fair compensation for just logging in.

I feel like this as well.

I started in July, and I looked forward to the days I got gold, because it was GOLD! I needed it! (still do). Same thing for *most* of the other rewards, because I didn't have a stock pile of either gold or the materials nor fully upgraded equipment and so on.

I love the cosmetic stuff (really looking forward to more mounts), but as a newer(ish) player, I still look forward to more gold and more items that can help me upgrade gear and help me survive longer.

250k???? Why do you feel they should be giving huge rewards for players for simply logging in? The rewards are pretty well proportional to the effort being put in, and they are generally useful for everyone rather than only new players. That's the way they should be.

I'm not one to call them free, because we pay for this game and they require you to consistently do something. So, I don't believe they are above criticism. But they really don't require a whole lot from the player, so I see no reason they should give large payouts.

If I had my way, there would be no daily rewards at all, because I don't like being greeted by a big ol' pop-up when I log in. I don't like game systems that tug at my sense of FOMO. I don't like game systems that take me out of the fantasy of being in Tamriel.

But if we're getting this free stuff anyway, where's the sense in complaining that the rewards are "cheap"? You're complaining that you only get a whole extra week's worth of endeavors for basically doing nothing? It's basically an extra 10% on top of the seals you'd get for hitting every endeavor for a month, and all you have to do is log in. That is significant.

Personally I think it is a slap in the face to have to log in and then collect the rewards. Seriously? I have to "click" somewhere to collect my free reward? It should just magically appear in my inventory. (humour btw).

I kinda like them myself. The free tri Stat potions in particular are pretty nice since they are nearly as good (if not just as good) as the best crafted ones.

Also I like to make new characters so the xp scrolls really come in handy.

I think repair kits are a useful reward. Even though I normally use the repair kits that I get from doing daily crafting writs-- and at one time I used to just pay merchants to repair my gear-- the repair kits we get as login rewards are the Crown Store variety that repair everything at once, which is very handy if you need to repair your gear in the middle of a fight.

Everything you listed as worthless, I use.

I use most of what's listed as well.

Gold Mats and Currency are top tier rewards. Gold mats are needed to improve the best weapons in the game and some of the nicest furnishing.

Currency is the most valuable resource.

The trash meals are good for hybrid builds dealing with content they don't want to use their expensive meals on. No idea what's supposedly better for 600 coin.

Tripots are easily in the top 3 potions in the game.

The repair kits are better than the ones you can earn in-game because they repair everything at once without having to select it in the menu. The only repair kit better is the group one. And none are better solo.

I don't actually use poison outside of endeavors, but at least it's nice to have them for that.

The only thing I personally don't find useful is the 50% exp scrolls.

OP seems to be defining use entirely on coin cost and not the way items are used.

mount ride upgrades are also awesome

I had so many riding upgrades stored away from the daily rewards that my two newest characters-- an Arcanist healer and an Arcanist magicka DD-- are both already at 50+ on each of their riding stats. :) Those riding upgrades may seem worthless if all of your characters are already at full riding stats, but they are very much appreciated for new characters.

I've also got a lot of instant crafting research scrolls saved up, and I'll definitely be using them up someday very soon.

Agree with you! I also use all of whats listed, I personally cannot understand the OP's perspective at all. The calendar rewards have been really good this year. Free mounts, free houseguests, free emotes...I have no problem at all with the reward calendar.

    My perspective:
I love getting gold mats. I can never have enough for experimenting with builds, or doing master writs when I have one that's worth it.

Gold, Telvar, AP- all of it is more than welcome. Every little bit helps me get to where I want to be in PVP.

Meals are great, because I can pop them when I'm playing casually to have at least some kind of buff on, so that I'm not burning through expensive food to go do dalies. Especially during events when I'm grinding exp for hours and don't need my usual buffs.

Tripots are great for PVP when I don't feel like burning through my more expensive stuff.

Crown repairs are the lazy repair persons friend- like you said, they repair everything at once.

My NB is always burning through poison. These make nice backups.

My saved riding upgrades let me rank my arcanist half way up when she was new, and made playing her a lot of fun because I could blitz to bosses with those upgrades and my PVP+CP passives.

I save up the exp scrolls so that I can pop them during the EXP events and stack bonuses. I love the exp scrolls. They're my favorite thing on the calendar aside from pets, mounts, and other goodies which I also appreciate.

I appreciate everything on the reward calendar, and I'm not even new. I've got an established account, and everything on the calendar is still useful to me. But when I WAS new many years ago, the reward calendar gave me a big boost towards what I could accomplish. I imagine many newbies feel the same.

This months reward calendar is amazing, and I'm really happy with it!
