[PC/NA] Strange visual bug after crash

Last night, while fighting my way out of Toothmaul Gully, the game froze on me and subsequently crashed, exiting me to the desktop. I tried logging back in and got several "unexpected error" messages, but eventually, after walking away for about an hour, I was able to log back in. Once I was back in, I noticed that every time I cast molten armaments my companion would be covered with the molten texture that is usually applied to my weapon. A screenshot is attached as an example. I tried to trouble shoot this but nothing I've tried seems to make much difference - it continues to happen both with & without mods installed, as well as after multiple repair & verification of installed files.
It doesn't seem to affect anything mechanically, just the visuals (which is pretty jarring, tbh). Any insights or solutions will be very much appreciated.
