World-Loading issues after Patch

Not sure if servers are just overloaded or there are actual changes.
  • NPCs load slower: When I wayshrine to Vivec City and run to the bank, the banker still takes a couple of seconds before she shows up.
  • There are also black player silhouettes again, haven't seen them in years.
  • Despite stuff not being fully loaded before I can move around, the loadscreens actually seem to take a bit longer.
  • Also, after the patch, everything is full with Sorc pets again, has "Limit Followers in town" stopped working or is today bring-your-ugly-bird-to-work day?

    Interesting!

    My only issue has been losing the lobby connection, i.e. being eventually kicked to the login screen while loading into Ilessan Tower in Glenumbra on PC EU.

    Make sure to disable all addons and checking to see if this makes an observable difference. I've noticed the last few updates have also messed with the usersettings.ini file, so if you've modified it, hopefully you saved it before the update.

    Yeah, I've noticed that too. I run windowed, height at 1854 px and width at 2798 px; after the last three updates (ncluding twice today) I've had to go into UserSettings.txt to change those again, because exiting the game resets height to 1818 px and width to 2762 px - and yes, that's a noticeable difference to me. I keep a current save of the UserSettings.txt file in a folder on a different drive.

    I got home at around 8 local time and started up the game after a quick dinner. I had no problem with long loading screens, but instead, after 10-15 minutes of playing:
    • I experienced several freeze frames of 2 or 3 seconds;
    • got kicked from server (right after finally taking down 5 (!) harrowstorm pikes with just 1 other player, leaving him to face the final boss alone);
    • got placed into queue when trying to log back in;
    • could not log back in after the queue was done, because system said I was already running the game;
    • restarted computer, got placed into log-in queue again;
    • have been staring at the "Aproximate wait time: 1 sec" message for the last 10 minutes now.

    I'm SO glad I got up early to get my tickets and dailies done before the patch.

    You can find troubleshooting in our FAQ below to help with loading issues.

    What do I do if I can login and select my character, but then get stuck on an infinite loading screen?

    Bit of a necro and missing the point, but since it actually got some attention:

    The issue isn't that the load screens are too long, they're too short. Or rather, the loading of NPCs and players (i.e. server telling the client what to show) takes longer than the devs estimated when setting the max load screen duration.

    It's very noticable at populated banks or traders (e.g. Luxury Furniture Vendor, or Vivec City Bank) you use the wayshrine, and go there and it takes 5-10s until the NPCs and the players around them show up. It doesn't matter whether you just logged in or use a wayshrine, and if you just stand there for 10s after using a wayshrine, everything is fine.

    At least on PC EU this is/was an issue that started with the introduction of the Infinite Archives, it was very noticable for the first month and meanwhile it's much much better, so my guess is that it was server load introduced by thousands of IA instances, that fixed itself by less players doing IA.
