So I've used the witches whistle and the cauldron, yet my character has no double xp. Am I doing something wrong?

It’s supposed to be passive now so no need to use the whistle.

Few people in guilds are saying they are still seeing the same as normal for xp but not tried myself yet

It is not showing up when I look at my characters active effects, though the witchmothers brew (skeleton effect) does. It doesn't even show on my main screen, and I have all buffs shown, I.e. food, combat effects etc, with the timer showing.

If it is passive then I must have missed that info in the event description. I hope its working, thanks for the reply.

"passive" xp buffs dont show up (such as when they would do explorer events, those gave double xp but it did not show up as a buff)

in the past year, they have been updating most events that had double xp buffs to be changed to be fully passive, so there is no need to upkeep on the tool consumable or buff tracking to make sure it didnt fall off

they also did the same thing with the double ap buff from the pelinel scroll for the whitestrake pvp event

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

Thankyou Kevin, i obviously didn't read the article properly.
Now I just have to wait 8 minutes for the skeleton effect to wear off, then I can be a pumpkin head polymorph. Happy Halloween. 🎃

You can actually go to your character sheet and scroll to active effect and click on it to disable it or atleast you could last year of ps/na

i believe you can cancel it early by right clicking the "buff" that changes you to a skeleton in your character sheet

it was like a year or 2 ago that they removed the need to actually drink from the cauldron to get the xp buff (merely summoning it was enough) because a lot of people didnt like the robed skeleton look lol

this year they just removed the need to use the cauldron entirely lol

    Thanks for all replies.

Thanks, but it may be good for there to be an effect icon active on screen to let the players know.

You did include this in the article, but this confusion exists for 3 reasons--

    1. The event announcement is worded as follows:

“During the Witches Festival, all adventurers can enjoy a passive 100% boost to XP gain at all times. To collect the Witchmother’s Whistle and down ladles of hag’s brew, simply follow the steps listed below:”

This makes it seem like the XP buff and the whistle-summoned brew are still directly related.

    2. Your content creators have brand new videos that state the whistle gives the 2-hour XP buff.

    3. The game allows you to see all buffs and debuffs--including ESO plus (which is as constant as this XP buff, if not more so.) Options>Combat>Buffs and Debuffs

I am not trying to blame anyone, but I am clarifying the reasons for the confusion. Perhaps inform your content creators of the change, add the symbol for the event XP buff like you included the ESO plus icon, and start a new paragraph after “at all times” in the announcement.

I am glad the XP buff is constant, but I admit it would be nice to see confirmation that the buff is working.

There is no active buff listed during Explorer's Event XP boost. There has never been an active buff listed for double boss drops or double harvest nodes. There has never been an active buff listed for the Zenithar gold price discount. It seems like the holiday event XP buff is being put in line with other event buffs.
