A Mandela Effect ?

fxeconomisteb17_ESO
Why do I remember it was Ilyas Ruins and not Ilayas Ruins as it reads now ? (and as I write Ilayas the autocorrect underlines it in red)
"Is it true her wounds healed on their own ? Yes" No s***, at 75% health regen penalty!

I was a vampire like you, but then I took an idea to the head...

Ilyas is a real world name - perhaps you saw it somewhere outside of game and Ilayas was close enough to be conflated? We tend to look at the beginning and ending of words and then fill in the gap without reading too carefully: have a look at French Connection UK’s advertising for an example.

Both Ilayas and Ilyas get underlined and autocorrected for me, fwiw.

Hmm, check this out. Not very old.

The poster wrote "Ilyas Ruins", but in the video it appears as "Ilayas Ruins".

This is consistent with Mandela Effects : what was written from memory was not changed, but content automatically copied (screen capture), that changed.

I've been there a lot of times. Crimson Cove was my grinding spot for gold long ago. And is a good place for testing builds.

Go read through the patch notes to see if the name was changed.

Barring that, acknowledge that you probably misremembered, which is a far more likely explanation than reality changing itself around a small, easily misidentified/misremembered detail.

Heh. Since I have a friend named Ilyas IRL, it took me FOREVER to keep track that the area and wayshrine in Malabal was Ilayas, and get the mental pronunciation right.

You probably misspelled it as Ilyas before and added to dictionary, so your custom dictionary recognizes Ilyas but not Ilayas. I get both underlined in red. This is common with names, especially foreign names. Both a correct spelling and an incorrect spelling will "look" the same to your brain, in terms of both being novel and unique strings of characters that you have not seen before.

Both UESP and elderscrolls.fandom.com keep history of their page changes, and the 2014 versions of pages show Ilayas. Unless ZOS is part of a plot to rewrite the history of not only the game and their website, but all the 3rd party sources on the Internet, I'll assume it has always been Ilayas.

I’ve noticed this with Stibbons also.

I remember Stibbons wearing a binocular. And that there was this entire quest with him and Lady Lwhatever about capitalism and girlboss or something like that. Those superior overlords keep messing with me.

Human memory is definitely not perfect, and there are a good number of studies on this.

One study in particular actually managed to induce a fake memory in people by showing them falsified pictures of them in a hot air balloon. Even though the event never happened (literally, the researcher photoshopped the pics themselves after confirming from family members that they've never gone up in a hot air balloon), many of the participants started to "Remember" how it did happen.

At least for me, the mind kind of auto-correct stuff it see as writing errors. To me Ilyas sounds better than Ilayas.
Probably explains why Berenstain Bears became Berenstein Bears as later sound better.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I swear Stibbons used to be Stibbons.

But it seems like he’s slowly becoming Stibbons
