Disable Quest Markers please...think of the children!

hehe seriously, can someone from ZOS read this reddit thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/elderscrollsonline/comments/117nt8u/zos_please_disable_some_dlc_quest_markers_in_base/

We were talking about this in guild chat today. We'd ALL love a way to disable those terribly annoying tribute quests, as well as battlegrounds, dlc quests for new characters, etc

Can we get a little QOL upgrade pretty please, or if you're too busy, allow us to do it in the API ourselves. We have loads of talented folks in the community if given the opportunity to do so.

Thanks =)

They have already made some adjustments to this in update 39. Please see the patch notes.

While not perfect, they should be disabled for the newest of players. However, if one does follow the main story line first, they will most likely be at a level high enough to see most of the markers when they re-enter the first main city of their alliance.

They are making some more adjustments to this in u40 (can see the details in the PTS patch notes, but here's the key part):

    "Prologue Quest Bestower Redistribution
As part of our ongoing efforts to declutter the early game areas for the benefit of new players, prologue bestowers that are present in-world have been shuffled about.

As a rule, most prologues (with a few exceptions, due to either their relative isolation or knock-on effects from moving them) will be present in only one location, as thematically and situationally appropriate.

Upon accepting any prologue quest through any bestowal method, you will receive a small pop-up on the bottom right warning you that you’ve accepted a prologue quest.

All prologues are still accessible through the Crown Store quest starter entries as normal."

    So... some progress at least!

It's so confusing to see 2 Abnur Tharns in the mages guild, or lyris when you haven't rescued her from Cold Harbour

    • The new locations for any moved prologue quest bestowers are:
      • Of Knives and Long Shadows (Clockwork City Prologue): Mages Guild of Vivec City, Vvardenfell
      • The Ravenwatch Inquiry (Markarth Prologue): Outside of Evermore in Bangkorai, near the wayshrine.
      • The Missing Prophecy (Vvardenfell Prologue): Mournhold, Deshaan
      • The Demon Weapon (Elsweyr Prologue): Rawl’kha, Reaper’s March
      • A Mortal’s Touch (Blackwood Prologue): The Hollow City, Coldharbour
      • An Apocalyptic Situation (Deadlands Prologue): Belkarth, Craglorn
      • Ascending Doubt (High Isle Prologue): Wayrest, Stormhaven
      • Ruthless Competition (Murkmire Prologue): Stormhold, Shadowfen
      • Sojourn of the Druid King (Firesong Prologue): Evermore, Bangkorai
      • The Coven Conspiracy (Greymoor Prologue): Riften, The Rift
      • The Dragonguard’s Legacy (Dragonhold Prologue): Sentinel, Alik’r Desert
      • Eye of Fate (Necrom Prologue): Sadrith Mora, Vvardenfell
    • Additional prologues may be shuffled about in future updates to keep the streets of Daggerfall, Wayrest, Davon’s Watch, Mournhold, Vulkhel Guard, and Elden Root free and clear of stray people pestering you for help.

It's so confusing to see 2 Abnur Tharns in the mages guild, or lyris when you haven't rescued her from Cold Harbour

I agree, that actually bothers me the most. You can ignore (or on PC with addons disable) the quest marker spam, and if you accidentally pick up a prologue quest and know what it is you can reject it, but seeing NPCs hanging around town who you're told are missing or trapped in Coldharbour is an immersion break even if you know why they're there and not to talk to them.

It's even better if you have killed one, and consumed their soul ... and then pick up their dragon hunting quest .....

I just wish they'd tone down the screaming prostitute and her need for her card game fix......

I have less of a problem with the quest markers, and more of a problem with NPCs yelling at the player every time they run past.

I would prefer to be able to kill her and loot her outfit for my companions.
