There's a dark green bubble around the Arcanist during the ramp up phase. Don't attack the bubble.
Once the bubble pops, a dark green circle appears on the ground around the Arcanist. Don't stand in the circle.
Also 48k tick is probably from Emperor Arcanist. Don't bother attacking them unless you have Corrosive/Onslaught and time your burst perfectly when they are low health.

✭✭✭✭✭In addition to what Skara said, it's pretty easy to lock the Arcanist down as soon as the bubble pops. Stun + immobilize, and pour damage in. The Arcanist will likely be on the offensive when the bubble pops to take advantage of the damage, and you should be able to tear through them pretty quickly.0 -
