[TEMPLARS] 'Jabs' Animation, Missing Animations & Balancing

At one point on PTS long time ago, Templars had a placeholder animation for their spammable, when the update finally came, the model for the Spear was based off a Vampire Style Motif, the Nighthollow Staff, considering that Templars (lore-wise) use Aedric/Meridia/Restoration Magic (the RPG equivalent to ''Holy-Magic"), its really weird to see a Daedric-based style being used for them. Its like seeing a religious person using clothing that matches demonic beings, but painted in gold and white.

What is even weird, is that skills like Focused Charge (Gap-Closer), Spear Shards, Backlash (Dawn's Wrath) and Radial Sweep (Ultimate) were left out of this model update. Making it REALLY weird to see both new animation for spammable, but other 4 skills still using the old spear model.

Balance-wise, some changes to the Execute and Spammable (Biting Jabs) were done so LA weave could be put between usages. The Arcanist class and mythics like Velothi-Ur are an amazing adition to a new playstyle, alongside Heavy Attack Builds (which always existed but always fell behind). The changes into Maelstrom Destruction Staff and Empower do show that ZOS wants more alternatives to LA-dependant builds. Also also: Velothi-Ur's Mythich can be used with Templar and it shows nice results, but nothing like the Arcanist or the proper LA-Builds.

Idk how to feel about this but, I do miss the Old Jabs duration, pre-rework and I think it could benefit more now that non-LA weave options are on the raise.

But I do think that new model-animation for the skills listed is a must to make it coherent with the class.

My Opinion:

- Aedric Spear's model should either be Imperial Champion, or Meridian (seeing that its lore-accurate and she's a deity debatable on the TES creation mythos).
- Spear Model should be updated for Focused Charge, Spear Shards, Backlash and Radial Sweep.
- Old Biting Jabs animation could return (4x Strikes) now that Velothi-Ur Mythich and other options for non-mandatory LA-weave exist. (Very debatable)

Small disclaimer:
- Im by no means a LA-weave hater or LA-elitist, just using the alternative vibe to sustain my argument into a retroactive change.
- Templar since day-one, I always dreamed of a Jabs Spear-style update, but not one that is based on a cult created by a Demon-God.

I just want it back exactly how it was, it's not supposed to have such a specific shape, it's a spear of light, I don't want it to be a motif. I also think that changing every other templar skill with a new model/animation would be the end of the class for many people.

Please no. Don't make it any specific spear shape. Revert it to a shapeless blob of energy as it was before. It's bad enough having a twohanded sword replaced by a spear, let alone a specific motif that may or may not fit with the rest of your character's aesthethic or power fantasy.

That's why I suggested Meridian or Imperial Champion, since the Imperial Church is very influential in TES Universe and Meridian because the powers are also based on the magic granted by Meridia.

A full revert? It is interesting, but very dated animation and I dont think they would go that way. But between a Vampire style or the Goddess that grants Templar's part of their power, dont you prefer the latter?

I also -much- prefer a twohanded sword turning into an energy blob instead of an actual well-defined spear or weirdly coopted staff.

Who knows. Just another topic of discussion ignored. Something something go play Arcanist. With the shiny new class almost ALL the animations make your weapon magically disappear!

Dragonknights are like that, based on Akaviri and most if not all Akaviri descendants on Tamriel are Imperial tho. Wardens are based on Y'ffre, a deity from the Bosmer and Arcanist's is based on Mora who plays a big role on a niche Nord culture, Khajiit culture and a section of Dunmer culture (as we saw in Necrom). Psijic Order at one point were 100% Altmer members too.

Hi, maybe I wasnt that clear but I wanted this to be more of a feedback from your beloved Templar mains. It is really weird that we have to see a Vampire, Daedric-style spear as our new class identity after the model update.

Whether other classes have other questionable issues (or not, I don't agree with half of those statements) is irrelevant. We still don't need to suggest making it worse. Especially not with an association to a Daedric Prince or the Empire whose recent history has been absolutely terrible in the eyes of almost everyone in Tamriel.

The blob was fine. It was the neutral option.

yeah the spear model always looks kind of odd

i can understand the overall animation change since they altered the timing and made it 3 hits instead of 4, but the spear model change seemed unnecessary

it has the kind of feel of "while we are here modifying this lets just change the spear model too"
