That's the post.
I would LOVE a cool wolf companion. They could still have a questline and everything else a humanoid companion would have, the only difference would be that they are a WOLF or a DOG.

Make it happen ZOS! This is the path to great success!

    For an non humanoid companion a Alfiq or Senche-raht makes most sense as they speak.

    I'm all for non-humanoid companions but it would require redoing the gear system, or a giant leap to suspend disbelieve on animals wielding weapons.

    No need to suspend disbelief. Historically, real world "combat" animals and mounts wore armor. and some armors had spikes and blades. If we can "hide" our helms and shoulders, for cosmetic reasons and even have bound/magical weapons, there is no reason that the same cannot be done for a combat pet/companions. Not every weapon and armor has to be rendered on the companions.
    Two words, "companion helms".
    If ZOS wanted some of the armor to show, many of our mounts already have armor on. You would just resize the mount to combat pet scale and remove the saddle. You could also head canon it that the gear you "equip" on them is just a magical spell that buffs their stats.

    Belief was already suspended when we started playing a game that takes place on another world, with magic, powers, gods, demons and beings from other planes of existence.

    An Senche-raht could double as an mount who comment on your riding.
    And no reason one could not use some magic, Alfiq are know as mages, probably as they could not do much else in combat.

    Kind of fun boss idea I had, a Pahmar-raht with huge pauldrons who was turrets for Alfiq mages and an rear position for an healer. Healer also heals adds if boss and turrets don't take much damage.

    Female for me. But I'm in favor of creating companions in both genders for each class - equal opportunities and all that.

    If ZoS hadn't killed off spellcrafting, summoned wolf familiars would have been a thing today. It was even functioning during the 2014 Quakecon showcase.

    I also would love a wolf companion. A talking wolf like the Glenmoril wyress that briefly accompanies you in Bangkorai. No equipment required; that could be compensated for by their skill lines.

    As for Alfiq companion, this is capital idea! Imagine Alfiq tank with delightful turban-shield headbutt bash!

    I want ALL my characters to be able to choose a wolf companion, not just one class.

    Pets in real life are very important to us and we consider them part of the family. It would make sense to have one by our side in our travels as an active participant, not just cosmetic like the current pets.

    I like the idea of cleverly weaving a quest that leads to an animal companion. Only that it'll haver to offer the same options as the others such as dialogue and equipping gear. Both can be done with a bit of creativity.

    But before we start with animals, I'd very much like to see companions of the other playable races first.
    One day we'll get an orcish companion and wether he's from the wrothgarian mountains, craglorn, valenwood or wherever...I'll just be happy about an orc.
