Oakensoul Ring - Murkmire Lead Question

I'm seriously hating the progress on this jewelry piece, it's been kicking my butt for weeks. Getting desperate.

So my main, started in 2016, has done a ton of stuff in the game, including maxed-out thieves guild, but has no points active skills in it at the moment. Been farming the Murmire lead for weeks with no success. Have auto-loot on. Read online someone this should have been the FIRST lead I went after (but got 3 of them by just playing the game first).

Now I also have a bunch of other toons, including a leveled Necro who is leveling Antiquies, and who has found gold leads already. Wondering if I would have better luck with my necro, without any thieves guild experience, on the off chance this first lead thing is by character, not account.

I was somewhat lucky when I went for mine. The only one that took a little time was mining resources in Glenumbra. Otherwise I picked up the leads on my first or second attempt at each location.

OP, are you suggesting that lead drop rates depend on how many you already have collected, and that later fragments have reduced likelihood?

If so, can you link that for me, please?

I say 3 random normal dungeons is significantly faster.

I went after the Oakansoul leads well after the rush. I seem to recall the Murkmire lead taking some time as there were not a lot of spawned chests and troves. This is purely anecdotal but for me getting a lead for the first time usually goes quickly however getting the same lead for the second or third time seems to take longer.

Make sure you don't have it already,also if you got max leads in the zone,you gotta scry/excavate one or 2 to get more for the zone.I tihnk max leads is 8 or 9 per zone the lead is diggable in.

It has nothing to do with how many leads you already have. Its pure RNG. I switched back and forth between a few alternates to speed up the looting, but classes have nothing to do with upping your RNG.

The best one seemed to be the lockbox outside next to the crates where the NPC walks around.

Go to Alten Meerhleel middle of map in the south, it's marked by the eye showing a striking locale.

On the water's edge there is a dock with two buildings a safebox spawns in both of these and also one on the dock itself(although that one seems to be a slower respawn). I have used this location on three accounts and always got the lead fairly quickly...... the wait time between respawns is not too long..... Good Luck!!

I got mine from a strongbox at the bar in the main city. First Time too.
