Forcing sky shard purchase on new characters.

I've done the grind on almost everything with a few original ESO characters.
ESO introduced the ability of new characters to either buy sky shards OR earn them.
This was a very welcome EITHER/OR option.
Now, it's no longer EITHER/OR.
Many sky shards must be purchased.
There is no way to earn them through a grinding process.
Given the amount of money I've spent on ESO over the last 7 years I find this demoralizing.
I know ESO has to have enough revenue to keep going.
I don't have a problem with paying something more for ESO.
But without a loyalty discount after 7 years, I think it's time to not renew.

May I ask which skyshards you are being forced to buy?
I just run around on my alt characters and collect them still, I have not be forced to buy any.5 -
