Am I missing something, how to gain ultimate on an arcanist

As most ultimate points come from light and heavy attacks which the arcanist doesn't really need to do, how do we gain ultimate points? I've looked at Last Stand in the Warfare CP but it requires you to be below 20% health which sounds a bit risky, are there other methods I can use without changing sets?

Your beam is, like, 4 seconds cast, surely you can throw a LA before it like any other way. LAs give a buff for 9 seconds

you just weave like normal until you hit beam.

Ah so you only have to hit it once to give 9 sec ult generation? Sorry, been away from the game for a while so I'm a bit rusty.

Yes, Ulti gen is a hidden buff. It gives 3 Ult per sec upon light/heavy attack damage for 9 secs.
The refreshes itself as soon as you light attack again.
