Wish to Explore all of ESO with Immersive Clues for each quest instead of running to the Dorito?

Growing up with games like The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, I miss the genuine thrill of exploration as I started on my ESO journey.

Back then, we relied on environmental clues and NPC hints, creating mental maps and forming deep connections with the game world.

Stumbling upon a hidden cave or a secret quest was the real reward.

Modern waypoint systems, while handy for many, often feel like they're holding my hand too much, making the world seem more like a checklist than a realm of mysteries.

For those who, like me, yearn for that old-school magic, I recommend the Immersive Quests addon.

It brings back the beauty of figuring things out on your own and lets you rediscover the joy of true exploration.

if it's cool ranch then sorry you can't stop me

this seems like a cool project! i could see this giving a few side quests some much needed flavor text to help them stand out from one another.

I've no idea what the reference to the Dorito relates to, but while I'm attracted to the concept of immersive clues for quests and don't use a single add-on despite playing on PC - in this or any other game - I fear that for me at least that particular horse has bolted with the loss of individual character progression through the introduction of account-wide achievements.

i usually follow the quest markers lol, thats not to say i still dont get lost/distracted while doing 1 quest and end up picking up several more quests lol

i usually only tend to do most quests once though, i dont necessarily have a lot of interest in replaying a lot of the story quests because theres very very few of them which give any meaningful choice that actually changes the outcome of the quest

so some quests have the illusion of choice but the end result is that it never mattered

During my first month of ESO, I took it slow and explored many zones like a singleplayer game. As I leveled up, I wanted to progress my skill lines and gear as fast as possible. Now it's just another carrot-on-a-stick Doritos MMORPG.

Both options are valid for me. I like to just explore sometimes, but I would only check that one if all I did was questing.

I do a lot of other things in the game, like trials, and PvP, and housing, and ToT sometimes, so I don’t have time to chase down every quest. In that case I gladly follow the quest markers.

I would need an "other" option. I like to explore and tasks of the type "treasures hunting" and that without doritos. Fortunately, thanks to addons, it's possible to remove them from compass.
However, , when I'm short on time, or don't like the quest, or it's too long for me (I hate when it's never ending), or when I get fed up because it's one of the type "back and forth killing same foes each time", then I want doritos to be able to quit the bother soonest possible... o:)

So for me, like post right above my, the two options are valid and thanks to the addons, I have both of them. Now of course, it's true that it works for PC only.

Thanks for saying it, the main part of the experience playing prior TES games for me, was exploring the world and having a sense of discovery, be it a random ogre atop a mountain that has two villagers in it’s belly, or an amazing unique helmet sitting at the bottom of an ocean, or an encounter like the East Empire Trading Company quest in Skyrim that you end up stumbling upon when exploring Windhelm… leading up to an amazing raid on an island, fighting along the empire to stop a wizard in their tower.

There’s nothing like that in ESO.

Having markers on everything completely ruins that for me, and not having any sense of threat or meaningful reward when exploring the world just creates a recipe for a bland experience that I just can’t recommend.

    Oh, this is brilliant.

I always quest with the PinKiller and No Compass addons (unless I am powering through some tedious dailies for the xth time) and often find that that the dialogue and quest journal simply does not provide enough information to find the quest objective (especially if you are required to, e.g., place a series of objects in various places, and the game mechanically requires this in a far more specific, and random, place than the NPC you spoke to... a good example would be placing the traps in Ember's intro quest). So often, I find myself temporarily reenabling the pins, which kills immersion.

I'll be trying this addon out with some of my alts soon. Hopefully it works as well as described, and y'all will eventually be adding all the zones. Thanks!

Depends on content for me. I absolutely love to explore the world in an immersive way, so I'm all-in for more immersive quests.

Except for repeatable dailies. Here I'm perfectly fine with following the dorito.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

I wouldn't use the addon, but it would be cool if all quests came with detailed instructions and you could disable ALL quest markers in a setting if you wanted. I probably would never actually do the quests without the quest marker LOL, but it would be great to have the option for people who like that immersion.

Skyrim would give me a quest for deciding to talk to a seemingly random NPC, and gave you choices in the quest that weren't specifically mentioned in dialogue. I liked that.

ESO has every Quest giver marked and yelling at you when you pass by, and objectives are GPS locked on your compass. That's a bit annoying.

Yes yes yes yes yes. I'm so tired of every quest just being a "following the yellow-brick-marker" even when you're explicitly supposed to be looking for clues in a quest or something like that. Personally I use the mod "Pinkiller" to get rid of many quest pins, but unfortunately quest text is so lacking that you NEED pins on many ocassions.

Thankfully there's an addon being developed that fixes that called "Immersive Quests", but it's still very early in development so chances are the quest you're doing won't have good updated quest text.

But this isn't something modders should need to be fixing. Quest text should just be good to begin with so that we can turn off quest pins and immersive ourselves in this world the developers made for us. This is an MMORPG after all, right?
