Vet Maelstrom one bar Magplar

I'm looking at one bar magplar builds with an eye towards Vmaelstrom for gear farming and if I'm lucky finally my Flawless. I'm finding two different builds; one Lightning Staff/Sgt Mail build and one Dual Wield/Nirn/Depths build. Which would be better for this?

probably the latter build, unless you can't light attack weave. puncturing sweep can help keep you alive.
    PC-NA / 1500+ CP / PvE mostly / "Mama didn't raise no tank."

I’d go with the lightning staff HA build because if nothing else, being able to hurt things from afar is a survival advantage as you can likely kill some things before they get close enough to hurt you, but either build would be able to clear vma -most of it boils down to how well you know the mechs ;)

I would go with a Pale Order build if you are looking for the Flawless achievement. Just run Deadly, Depths, Pale Order, and Slimecraw. The small sacrifice in damage will be more than made up for with the healing from the Pale Order ring.
    Playing since beta...

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding.

I agree, Pale Order is really nice for survival in vMA. Thrassian Stranglers are arguably better for farming gear fast, but they won't help you get flawless.

Deadly is a great set on Templar. As much as I love Whorl of the Depths, it's not the best in vMA. Sul-Xan is hard to beat for damage, since crit damage suffers without Warhorn, Brittle and Catalyst. False Gods is also useful if you need more sustain.

I wouldn't take either of those options. Deadly/Order's Wrath is the best combi to boost the Templars abilities.

I guess you could make an argument for a Lightning Staff in vMA, if you have a ranged spammable. The Trolls in the Ice Arena are a bummer if all you have is melee abilities, for example.
But alas, Templar and range is sometimes like oil and water.

I'd also take two bar setup with long DoTs and heals on the backbar over a one bar anytime. ☝️
All veteran SOLO arenas are about how much you understand of your abilities and if you can utilise them properly.
HoTs, DoTs, Buffs and Debuffs need to be balanced with damage.

Much easier to get through vMA this way.

If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

My 1 bar magplar uses Deadly, Orders wrath, oakensoul, lightning staff, 1 piece slimecraw. Cheap and do good damage. Clears all solo content in game including wb, IC bosses and you can use a heavy reinforced chest combined with medium and Light pieces because of the craftable set.

Order’s Wrath is easy to obtain, but Sul-Xan has far better stats and the only condition is killing an enemy every 30s (melee is effortless, ranged needs to walk over the kill area for the buff).

    Comparing Order’s Wrath / Sul-Xan / Perf Sul-Xan we get:
    - 10.3% / 12.8% / 15.3% critical chance
    - 8% / 12% / 12% critical damage
    - 129 / 129 / 129 Weapon and Spell Dmg
    - 0% / 5% / 5% Damage Done (Minor Slayer)

Without a question. But good luck getting a complete set of perfected Sul-Xan nowadays. 😅
Outside of paying for carries, of course ...

War maiden vs Orders wrath is another option for vet maelstrom.

This is probably easiest set up and works great.
