how are people dodging many attacks and all they do is run ?

i can sit there spamming crushing shock, light weave, shards, mages wrath or whatever and they all get dodged without anyone rolling. [snip] seen people just run around and dodge 6 or 7 times in a row.

    There's a set where if you tap block you will dodge everything for 5 seconds, but it has a 20 seconds cooldown. Some people use that as their oh crap button and it makes sense to run away and wait for it to be available again before returning to the fight

    it’s not the set. no one runs it,

    there is a very long standing bug in pvp, where if you do not have a wired, high-speed connection (any wifi and you’re too slow) the game will make almost all of your ranged attacks dodged, just as you have described.

    the only solution is to use melee skills, whirling blades will still hit anything. so yet another “reason” the masters dw meta is all but unavoidable, if you want to be able to compete in pvp.

    it’s really awful if you like to play ranged.

    I'm using Meridia's Blessed to replace Mara's on my Warden healer. It is indeed a more Oh Crap Set that you can back bar, set off, then heal almost completely unmolested for 5 seconds. I think its also demoralizing seeing all those free dodges while walking and healing away.

    - if there are a lot of players fighting around, dodge sometimes doesn't render
    - dodge effect continue like 0.5 seconds (idunno) after
    - desync could potentially extend that time

    I use it, very good on stamdk you can generate back to full hp or do your combo unmolested for 5 seconds when you need

    I posted on this years ago, I think the post was titled "Dodge dodge dodge, but they never roll dodge". I doubt most of the time it is due to a set, those sets are purely defensive and not very widely used.

    One thing to note is a single dodge, if multiple players are attacking, can evade many attacks. The other issue is lag and dodge roll not rendering.

    But agree sometimes there is no lag, no dodge roll, and the "dodge" message spams the screen

    3 GOs, a General, and bunches of prefects etc-- all classes...I've wasted a lot of time in PVP

    The servers cannot reliably account for .5s increments, and it is barely enough time for the server, the dodge roller's client and all of the clients in range of the roller to sync with each other. Your true latency is the latency of your client, the latency of the target's client and server processing latency.

    End result, sometimes things work more than expected, work normally, or don't work at all, lol.
