Stuck in Combat..... Still

Yesterday afternoon I entered The Atoll of Immolation. As I made my way to the last area I noticed that my companion was repeatedly triggered by being in combat. The problem with this is that I had killed everything in my path. As I continued to wait for the The Duke to respawn I remained in combat the entire time ( as did two other players). After the fourth battle I just left through a portal. It is very annoying having to deal with a combative companion when everything is dead.
I have been reading in these forums that this bug has been going on for years, but only in other dungeons. Why has this problem not been fixed?
