Repairing your own armor?

So it struck me, that say, upon reaching the max rank with blacksmithing, that one should be able to repair their own armor no? Even if it costs something to do so....
Perhaps something to add in?

that's what the repair kits are for. they contain all the mats you need for the repair but it's still the player character doing it.

Do the daily crafting writs. You get plenty repair kits, other stuff and gold too. (If you ESO+, the craft bag is almost P2W for that.)

That is a good idea and makes WAY more sense than me walking into a pastry shop and having the baker bang out the dents in my armour :p

I agree with the people saying that's what repair kits are. The kit gives you the tools you need but it's your character doing it.

Actually, when you open a repair kit, a miniature banekin pops out and fixes up your armor for you.

(That is a joke. I agree with everyone saying that repair kits are how your character repairs their own armor.)

Repair kits are only for emergency use once you stop caring about gold. Most of my characters have full stacks of them but I always pay for repairs at traders - much quicker.

It's already here and called a repair kit.

This and we get them free (very often) from doing crafting writs which goes along with being able to repair our own armor.

I have not paid to repair armor in a very long time.

I like repair kits. It saves me gold. Then I have more gold to spend on stuff in the eso auction house... ?

I've got so much gold I don't even bother with repair kits. Occasionally I'll use a crown one if I'm out somewhere - but in general, I'm not into RP that much any more.

    It's a minor annoyance. That's all.

I have a bunch of crafters with stacks of repair kits. For those on PC, having an auto-repair and auto-recharge add on is super convenient too--no worries about broken armor or charging in the middle of a fight!

I've received so many free Crown repair kits over the years I have no need for the ability to repair my own stuff via crafting. If by some chance I do run out of them it really doesn't cost much to have a vendor repair the items.

If you suggest an additional rp option to repair gear, I think we don't need one.

I have tons of them in my bags, I just always forget to use them so they keep piling up lol. I always go to a vendor and repair my gear before remembering I could have just used repair kit lol.

One advantage of playing on PC platform is that I have an addon that auto-repairs gear for me, so apart from occasional reminders when the addon writes a message to the chat window that it auto-repaired something, I don't think about it.

I'd rather be able to craft repair kits and lockpicks if I'm honest. I have this silly notion of a self-reliant loner as a character that I'd love to be able to run, but can't because I have to interact with people to fix my stuff, either buying the kits or doing the writs to get the kits. At least I can find/steal lockpicks.

I destroy all the repair kits I get because I hate having to repair one piece at a time.

Your signature indicates you are on PC. There is an addon that automatically repairs the armor when it reaches a level you choose such as 2 or 5%. The player does not have to repair anything. They just have to make sure they have repair kits in their inventory.

No more wasting time going to a vendor.

Repairing isn't such a burden that I need an add-on to manage it. I'd rather just pay the merchant when I'm selling my junk to them every day.

Aye, yes yes yes.... i have the addon that auto repairs things when you go to a vendor. It's great. Love it.

And yes, i know about repair kits. Hate them. Having to go through and repair each thing one by one is annoying, plus they take up space in my bags.

Just thought it would be nice to have the option to be able to repair your own armor, LIKE when you do when going to a vendor who can repair ALL your damaged stuff at once for you, since we are already standing there crafting armor and such anyway.

But why not automate it and save the gold?

It also has the added benefit of never having your gear break in the middle of a fight.

There is an addon that uses repair kits automatically. You don't need to spend gold, and you don't ever need to repair stuff one by one.

I have never had gear break in the middle of a fight because I repair a couple of times a day when I'm clearing out my bags and selling junk to the vendor.

I don't like having more add-ons than I have a real use for because add-ons can sometimes cause problems. And I don't consider repairing to be a burden.

I have more gold than I will ever spend so I'm not hurt by spending a few hundred to repair.

Oh, I never found it to be a burden. I use it since I get the repair kits for free and do not have to waste any time doing tedious maintenance to play the game. For raiders who help other groups with their progression, it is nice not to have to leave the instance to repair when the group is dying a lot.

I respect that some may enjoy going to the vendor regularly to repair their armor. To each their own.

Consoles don’t have add-ons to automatically repair armor.

The problem with repair kits is you will want to repair when the armor gets low, but you have to constantly keep checking the level in your inventory. For multiple items. Unless you are in trials you will not need to repair very often and you will forget.

So, you tend to hoard them for those vMA or Vateshran runs so you don’t ever run out. Even if you don’t use them much.

It’s just easier to top off the armor with repairs every time you go back to decon stuff. It’s always nice to go into battle knowing your gear is in tip top shape.

I think it would be great, if you reach GMC that you get a reduced fee for repairs from the merchant. As a GMC you should be able to repair your own armor since you can craft it and such, but I realize this will never be an option.

I understand what the OP is asking, repair kits should be for when you're in the field/dungeon/trial away from crafting tables. It would make sense for a max rank crafter to be able to repair their own armor.
